• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I'm aware it's a pretty odd question, but it's something I've recently talked about with some friends and it caught my curiosity even more because some told me they wished for the same thing. I started to think about it in early middle school and it never quite left my mind. When I think about it now, I don't think I LITERALLY want one to happen because that would obviously be terrifying and not like in the movies, but I'm interested in the sense of freedom it would bring. By that I mean that the world's priority would no longer be to become rich, successful, etc... but to survive, which is something that some are already trying to do either way. There would no longer be any sense of comfort for anyone, the big companies, or rich people would no longer hold so much power over everyone, and as pessimistic as that sounds, it would also mean humanity would come to an end which i quite frankly don't mind at all. I'm not trying to be edgy, but I have a hard time seeing the good in our existence nowadays, because we really seem to destroy a lot.
Has anyone else ever had similar thoughts? I hope I was clear enough, and once again, I'm not sure I really wish for one to happen, as it probably wouldn't be as freeing as I think but the concept of it all just always was kind of appealing to me.

I definitely share this feeling sometimes. Both ways, like you said: Hopefully people taking care of each other through the crisis, but also realizing that things would be very hard indeed. Especially for those of us who require medication in order to survive.

ב''ה, Jewish perspective: not needed as much as people not being shitty is needed.

The way G-d could have snapped His fingers and done from the start. So all later gnosticism comes kinda pre-compressed into that thought and 'maybe these laws ain't that bad if we can implement them fully properly.'

Most other traditions have some kind of climactic battle between good and evil, G-d and something else going on, but with Judaism it's just been G-d the whole time, so.. project complete, after-party for eternity.

I do all the time. I fully believe that humanity deserves annihilation. Humanity as a species is terrible and it proves that everyday. More than it proves itself to be good and worthy of survival.

And it shirks every opportunity to better itself for the sake of money.

So yes. I do hope something like that happens that no one can escape. We've collectively earned it. If there is any cosmic justice, humanity will not make it into the far future.

I never have such thoughts and I think it is very selfish, ego-centered and unfail against all the others who enjoy their lives. If someone wants an apocalypse he is free to create his own private one.

I have.
Pretty much all my existence I've wished for global chaos. Maybe I've just watched so many movies it fueled my thoughts?
All I see is chaos and pain. I don't wish any harm on anyone. But, it happens.
I just look at things as, just get it over with. Why try to save what's already being destroyed.

Absolutely not. An apocalypse would bring out the worst in humanity (rape, theft, gangs, betrayal, extortion, slavery, some of the worst pain you can imagine). The world was mostly safe until recently.

I wish humanity the best overall, and I think we can get there at some point (unfortunetly currently it's going downhill). I hate living, but bringing people down with you is not a good idea. We should strive towards a better world, or assisted suicide at best.

This rings so true and so painful. I'm a confessed obsessed doomsday prepper , so I go through cycles of decluttering to prepare to ctb, then building up my hoard of food, gas masks, tampons, again. 😂 I think some preppers like me invest so much time and money and emotional energy into preparing for the end that we almost start to welcome it. Especially the way the world seems to be going, and we've been given so many fucking chances to make things right with Nature but ..sometimes I do wish Mama would send another meteor . Then she can finally start to heal with us all gone.

In the meantime, I have enough baked beans to feed all of you until you decide it's time to ctb LOL

I find the idea of this world without humans on it appealing. Give all the other creatures a chance rather than kill them alongside us. However, the run up to that isn't nice to picture. Unless it was voluntary extinction I suppose- which would never happen.

I suppose I've toyed with imagining what life would be like under different circumstances. If something happened to make us all unite. If we went back to leading more traditional lives.

Personally, and this is just me, but I don't want to see more suffering in the world than there has to be. I'm hyper-empathetic, and I don't mean that as a humblebrag. When I see others in pain I can't help but feel it in myself and it drives me crazy.

...But I would be lying if I didn't say that a lot of people these days have it too good and too easy, at least in first world countries. People are allowed to just recede into the internet and into entertainment media and escape all the horrible things happening around them, to the point where real life is no longer real to them anymore. I think that's a big part of the problem. For example, my parents live on social media and they believe all sorts of insane nonsense, because they just get to pick and choose whatever best fits their current worldview and double down on it without any reality checks. They are retired and don't have to ever leave the house and engage with reality anymore.

Regular people are so apathetic about everything, and I think that, at least for some, the only way they'll snap out of it is if the curtain gets ripped down, the bottom falls out from under them and suddenly they find themselves in deep, deep shit that they just can't ignore anymore. I guess that would be an apocalypse, wouldn't it? The problem I have though is all the needless and undeserved suffering that people who have their head screwed on straight would have to go through for these idiots to finally learn their damn lesson, but maybe it is the only way.

Apathy is the ultimate cruelty, and Americans have that down to a science.

I have wished for this too. I know this kind of thing would cause a lot of short term suffering but I think in the long term it would be of less suffering as humans become extinct meaning that the pain in the world decreases as people die. Cus of our intelligence, we can do some of the most horrible things a life form can do, especially as someone of us are so selfish and don't care about others, which is why I think it would be best for humans to end. If every human were decent and people that suffer could escape their suffering more easily whether through getting better or death then I would less want this but as the world stands at the moment, it would be better for life to end.

I've wished for it for the same reason I've wished to be struck with an incurable terminal illness: it takes responsibility out of my hands. The apocalypse in my head of course being a huge meteor smashing smack bang on top of my house. Minimal fuss, just get it over with.

i've definitely fantasized about it, sometimes with asteroids or nukes or bombs, generally things that are more immediate. i wouldn't actually wish for it to happen, though, especially since i want the people i care about to be happy.

In a light hearted way I suppose. The idea of an asteroid absolves one of SI, fears, guilt, second thoughts. It's an escapist type of thought.

I am all for an apocalypse if it immediately wipes out all humans at once.
But if it doesn't and it becomes a free-for-all kind of world? That sounds absolutely terrifying. If I already don't want to exist, I sure don't wanna have to go through that hell.

I keep thinking about places that have had severe storms/ earthquakes/ fires. I would have to guess going through that might feel apocalyptic. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I don't even know how people get their meds in those situations? Can you imagine how many panic attacks people would be having?

beautiful, yeah. I imagine what the healed earth will be like when we're gone. It's so comforting and it makes me happy in the face of all the wanton destruction and pain
