This might be my method but I want to hear other people's experiences especially people who blacked out from it.

I didn't black out, but I was lost at sea and hyperventilating. It was one of the scariest things ever.

No i didnt drown but i was nearly drowning as i was swimming in a deep wide river after a while, because it was exhausting. But i made it to the other side. Its not pleasant to nearly drown, you dont want to die that way.

I wouldn't want to consciously drown I think it would be horrible that's why I hope the jump is high enough to kill me instantly OR...I was thinking how peaceful it would be to take sleeping pills and drown in the bath once already unconscious but the feedback hasn't been too positive that that would work

Yes drowning is horrifying. And i was still a kid, as i nearly drowned, so i wasnt the best swimmer. Now this would not happen.

I almost drowned once. Nobody was around, and I couldn't breathe. Every time I would surface, the water would take me back under. It was terrifying, but to this day I wish I hadn't accidentally managed to grab hold and save myself. I wouldn't want to go that way by choice, and it was terrifying and painful, but I'd say its better than risking a gunshot, in my opinion.

Idk I'd much rather shoot myself in the temple

when I was 2 y/o I was in swimming classes and I almost died doing it..i have a vague memory of the event but I remember clearly that after that I was really afraid of water for a long time, even It was really hard to take showers, my head never under the water because I was feeling the lack of oxygen and I started to gasp for air...

I had a canoeing accident.Basically the canoe flipped over due to a wave and I was stuck under there as the spray deck {what keeps you waterproof and you are attached to the canoe by it} the handle of the spray deck snapped off . No one noticed this had happened ,Initally I was able to half pull myself out of the water and got air,but in the end my strength left me. I held my breath as long as possible but in the end I couldn't hold it no more and sea water filled my lungs. Initally I panicked and it was uncomfortable. But then I saw gold from my eyes and I felt a feeling of calmness. It then went all black and the next thing I remember is on sand with lots of people around me and I started coughing up loads of water.

I never set foot in a canoe ever again.

When I was a kid I was swimming underwater, tried to come up, and got stuck under a drunk guy on a raft. Couldn't move from underneath at all. I forget how I got out, but I don't remember any pain, just panic, crying a lot when I got out, and coughing up loads of water

At 5 years of age I was swimming in my grandparents pool, and I wasn't a very strong swimmer, so I was just floating around the shallow end near the steps. There was like a decline where the deep end started, and lost my footing and slipped down. I remember struggling to breath and I could not keep my head above water. Slowly everything became blurry. That's all I can remember. My mother hopped in and pulled me out.

When I was 9, we were visiting my grandfather's cottage which was on a lake. A lot of the extended family was there, including my aunts and cousins. One of my cousin's husband had tied an innertube to the back of a powerboat and was giving people rides around the lake on it. Everyone was standing on it while riding and making a sport of trying to keep balance.

When it was my turn I did the same thing. I didn't keep my balance and fell, through the hole in the middle. The inner edge caught the back of my head at speed and I was being dragged around with my head underwater. I couldn't free myself because the forces were too great. I arrived at the point of accepting my death, and was just about to breathe in water when a last second burst of strength enabled me to pull myself back up through the center of the innertube and above water again.

Seeing how my life has gone since, I think it would have been far better if I had drowned that day.

I have 100 mcg fentanyl, 5 mg versed and 2mg ativan. Plus one other thing. Thought I would mix those and iv inject and fall into a lake. Hoping that would take care of the SI from drowning. Any thoughts would be most appreciated..

The thing is , it's like anything else in the sense that it may be marginally less traumatic if it happens by accident as you simply don't have the time to think before it happens & then yr adrenaline kicks in (obvs not saying anything is 'nice' - drowning, getting shot etc. even if it happens by accident) but it's the element of knowing what's coming or trying to overcome that 'will to live', time having to contemplate what u are trying to do that makes it more complex & in some sense's atleast more terrifying than going through the same experience by mistake - though of course it might help if u know and can add in sedatives or whatever else u feel u might need - and I guess got some people they might have reached that point where there is a strange sense of calm about the whole thing - a state I wish to achieve so that I can proceed.

Had some plastic flippers on my feet as a kid while I was swimming, one of them came off and got hooked around my ankle while getting full of water. I was a good swimmer back then so I was just about able to keep my head above water but it was pretty scary.

I think that anything that can make you unconscious before drowning could make it more pleasant, but the quantities you described sound pretty low, especially if you have any kind of tolerance. I don't know if I would even feel that.

My experience varies significantly from the average answer, and honestly it could have been because I wasn't even close. I got caught up in a wave when I was little, and was spinning around as I got dragged out, and everything seemed bright and quiet, then I was saved.

I highly agree with others on here who are saying you really don't want to die that way. When I was a kid I almost drowned, and I still remember the pain in my lungs today. It's extremely scary and painful.
It should be noted I didn't black out, but I came close to it.

Did you see doctor after that?
