Anyone of you here tried before almost completely lose conscious and then you stopped hanging? What's the feeling before you lose conscious and how you did it. If possible please post pic for guide. I tried twice but failed. My position for hanging is tied a knot around the window bar and my neck. Lean my back against a wall and slowly slide down. Letting the rope slowly tighten my neck.

Someone posted a video here that had to do with hanging that suggested that the act of decompressing your neck area will cause a significant blood pressure drop because of blood exiting the brain that may induce unconsciousness. My point being that stopping at "almost completely lose consciousness" may be riskier than it may seem. They even showed a volunteer demonstrating it on camera. It was about the dangers of autoerotic asphyxiation.

Others say you have to do it fast and hard not slowly.

I just did it yesterday. It chocked me. I feel dizziness but. Not pass-out immediately. After that dizziness strikes in. My survival instinct just destroyed my plan. Also, the point is I slide down and what I got was only dizziness. I heard people say that I should pass out immediately. But it didn't. Did I do it wrongly?

You may have to try different things, knot position, postures...
There's some info on hanging in the resources thread: a pdf file about how to hang yourself, the link to the "lost all hope" site and to the suicide wiki.

Is that knot so important? The knot is always behind my neck. Or I do it wrongly

I found that the knot position is important.
I had a lot of success with it on the left and right side of the neck.

The reason is maybe, that if you have it in the back, that it is very likely, that the arteries get only compressed on one side of the neck.
By putting it on the side of the neck, it's more likely that the arteries on both sides get blocked.

I have posted a more detailed explanation of my experience and setup with pics here

I agree. Knot should be placed on side of the neck and rope waxed or greased to allow tight and fast constriction

But the point is when I put the knot on the left or right and when I try to use partial hanging and push my head downward. The knot will tighten and slowly turn back up to the middle of my neck

Failed like you couldn't even begin to blackout? I'm terrified that I'll not do it right when the time comes so I've been testing by holding the other end of the rope instead of anchoring it so I can find the sweet spot. (I'm pretty sure that can change from person to person). But, I would tie a slipknot and place it in the back or sort of back/side of neck. Tighten it as far as I can by hand, lean head forward, deep inhale and slide down the wall. I feel consciousness slip, which feels like I'm about to go to sleep no pain unless I'm not in the proper position for the arteries. After loosening the rope, insane euphoria washes over as you fully regain consciousness. I find myself yearning to do it again and again. Hoping that'll help get rid of those pesky survival instincts

This is what I was going to share. I did happen to speak with Thin Chew earlier today and discussed this. I didn't mean to your reply here Thin Chew - I have enabled alerts for the future.

I leaned forward. Just let my body kinda fall forward until the noose stopped me and started to strangle me. I couldn't breathe but I wasn't really in pain if that makes sense. And then I kinda just blacked out. I don't remember things really changing or getting fuzzy. Emotionally I was just accepting and at peace. And then just blackness. The belt slipped after I went black so I ended up waking up on the floor and hence how I can talk about it.

I'm brazilian, so sorry if my English is not good. I used a rope wrapped in a towel.
I put the knot above the Adam's apple and I slowly leaned forward to compress the loop. I felt my head tingle and my neck was aching. I almost lost consciousness, but I got scared and stteped back. It was a little unconfortable, perhaps if I would compress more the loop the pain would have gone.

The video of the young lady is unconvincing. The commentator tells us that she is unconscious, and rushes in to help (mercifully). He asks her if she is OK, and she immediately answers.

I agree. In the final moments, she's still standing on her toes (before the guys rush in). I always thought that when you truly lose consciousness, your muscles are out of control and you slide down like a loaf of meat.

Mmm. The presenter on the video tells us at about 1 minute 30 seconds that consciousness slowly came back to him when pressure was taken off his neck, yet the young lady answers immediately. I am quite suspicious of the motives lying behind many of the posts on this forum and similar.

The feeling is very much like standing up too quick, but rather than that feeling fading, it get stronger until you go completely black.
