Discussion Gun to the head, where to shoot

I know a lot of people on here think a shot to the brain stem through the mouth is the most effective shot.. But lately I've been thinking that a shot straight through the top of the head might be the better option(the way Budd Dwyer did it)..because the brain stem shot is too easy to miss, and if you miss, survival is likely... But a miss through the roof of the mouth to top of the head will still destroy most of the top brain, and there would be plenty of blood loss.

I am thinking about getting a 357 magnum soon, and will be trying the straight up shot through the roof of the mouth shot... I was thinking about a 9mm. but I want more power than that, I want the shot to get the job done

Rght behind the ear would be the best place because a direct shot from there would reach your brainstem.

Bud Dwyer shot himself through the mouth. I've watched the video many times.

You are completely correct, I hadn't noticed that before-there is blood oozing out of the very top of this head, and he aimed the gun extremely high in this mouth, basically a 90 degree angle.

Honestly I would say most well aimed head shots will kill do to bloodloss, swelling and loss of oxygenated blood to various brain regions/damage- but best chance is going to be that you have time. Like every other method you should just try to make sure you have some real alone time (like 2-4 hours) just to make damn sure. Hopefully it just kills you in a couple minutes like it should... but always good to add time to the mix.
Oh and blood thinners or some regular aspirin usage.

You can look it up if you choose as the video is graphic (Ricardo Alfonso Cerna), but this man's shot (.45-caliber handgun) to the temple looked like it resulted in instantaneous death.

357 magnum for sure, but 9 mm can do the job also.
0.22 is a no no
0.45 also very good

I'd say 9mm is very standard and of course, it is recommended to get hollow point bullets. Hollow points are generally used for self-defense, have good stopping power and expands on impact, thus maximizing the damage to whatever it hits, especially soft tissue.

On the other hand, shotguns cause some of the most ugly suicides. I couldn't do that to whoever would find me.

Not my method, but if it were, it would be a shotgun.
The butt of the shotgun could be propped against an inside corner.
You hang onto the barrel for positioning. Provides a steady aim.

I worry about the recoil action of any handgun messing up your aim, and missing the mark.
It is especially hard to hold a handgun when pointing at yourself.
With a powerful round, the recoil will be significant.

I know very little about guns, but I have shot a magnum and shotguns.
