Did you guys do group work in school? how did you feel about it?

When I was younger I hated it! Especially when we had to choose our own pairs. I had no friends so usually I was sitting awkwardly by myself. It was sooo fun when I had classes with my friends though.

In uni, it's not too bad if it's those Zoom breakout rooms. It's very awkward though, most of thr time I'm the only one talking and everyone else is clearly doing something else. But it's so much less pressure. Ultimately though I don't feel that it helps my learning at all.

Now I'm a peer leader so I have to teach students. My bosses want us to initiate a lot of group work and have the students lead the session. So im curious, what has made group work better or worse for you guys? Have your feelings about it changed as you aged? Also, any recommendations for what I can do to make it less shitty for the students and have them actually participate rather than stare at each other and do it on their own anyways haha
