I think I'm hitting the vein instead of the artery because my face turns purple and I feel a lot of pressure there. How can this be solved. The closest I've ever gotten is choking myself while standing up from laying down where my hands and feet get all tingly and I've gotten the spasms once in my feet. The only thing I have access is a studded belt, pants and shoelaces

Same. I tried partial and my head felt as tho it would explode. Was using a polypropylene rope with a noose. My feet were on the floor. After 5 seconds I stood up and I was having full body convulsions. Feels like I have brain damage now.

I remember ur the one who said u can end up with brain damage with the head explode feeling. Do I have to just push past it for like 15 secs?

I was! Though I'm just quoting others on this forum.
No, you shouldn't try to 'push past it'. When you feel that your head is going to explode, you're doing it wrong. You're not compressing both arteries, you're only compressing the one taking blood from your brain, causing blood to stack up inside your brain. When you feel that feeling of an exploding head, stop, calm down and try again. I've read that if you properly close off both arteries that you can pass out in like 5 seconds.

The knot was at the back of my neck. Maybe not high enough? Where should it be?

@therhydler posted a great thread about it. His advice was to use a soft belt, and have the buckle right under your left ear.

That wud make sense cuz the under the right side of face is there the blood goes into the head, so noose under left ear is best

You were hanging for 5 seconds altogether? You shouldn't have permanent brain damage from that.

Normally, the arteries are on both sides as are the veins. You could try to pull the rope with your hand until you feel it works and start the hanging from that point. This would require quite some force though.

Supposedly you must look for a better position of a rope around your neck.

I had the same issue when I first started. Put all your weight in all at once, don't try to ease in. Like a cannonball into a pool rather than step by step.

Both sides carry blood to the brain. The jugular is what takes blood out of the brain so that's what we are compressing.
