• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Always when comedians do it it hit me harder. I did not know him though.

I will google translate this article. It is not perfect though. And I don't want to romanticize it either. But seemingly the death of his dog played a larger role.

Marcel Mann's suicide The openly gay comedian Marcel Mann committed suicide last Tuesdayms - 01/24/2025 - 8:50 p.m.The comedian and voice actor Marcel Mann (†37) committed suicide last Tuesday - his family and friends announced this online this evening. Mann was 37 years old.Announcement from family and friendsFriends and his family posted on the artist's homepage and on his Instagram profile: "On duty, January 21, 2025, our beloved friend Marcel Mann said goodbye to this life of his own free will. We are speechless and infinitely sad, but also grateful for every second that we were able to spend with this wonderful person."And further: "We ask that you refrain from asking questions and allow Marcel's relatives and his close friends their privacy and sufficient time to grieve." There is no further information about the background. Mourning after the dog's deathMann had been mourning his dog "Pübbi" since October last year, who had run away from him in Berlin. For two weeks, the comedian had desperately searched for the poodle with the help of his fan community before the dog was found dead.In a heartbreaking post, Mann said goodbye to Pübbi online: "Forgive me for not being able to protect you. Yesterday you were found under a tree in the park, without a harness, curled up as if you were just sleeping peacefully. The sight of you and the certainty that our life together would not continue almost tore me apart (...) My beloved girl, I hope that in our short time together I was at least able to give you the best time of your life and give you the love that had been denied to you until then," he wrote under a black and white photo of the poodle. Just a few days ago, he also published statements from some Instagram users who had accused him of being partly responsible for the dog's death and of having acted negligently. He had previously thanked those people who had helped and supported him: "In the past two terribly uncertain weeks, however, I have learned that there are so many good people out there. People who have worried with me that you will find your way home safely. People who have moved heaven and earth since your disappearance to find you again. People whose words made me hold on to hope so much. They showed what humanity means. I will never forget that!"Comedian and voice actorMann was born in Schorndorf in Baden-Württemberg in 1987 and most recently lived in Berlin. He took acting lessons at a young age and completed singing, acting and speech training after graduating from high school. His first television roles followed, while at the same time he established himself more and more as a voice actor and worked on more than 200 productions. He was the German voice of Ross Lynch, Dylan Sprayberry and Alex Newell, among others. From 2014 onwards he became increasingly well-known as a stand-up comedian and appeared on television such as "NightWash". From 2017 onwards he toured with his first solo show "Because I'm a man", where he also openly and confidently addressed his homosexuality. This year he wanted to go on tour with his new solo show "The Unpeeled Truth". Next week he would have turned 38.Help is available hereReporting on suicide is an extremely sensitive topic. We do NOT want to glorify or romanticize it in any way. Many people who die by suicide suffer from a mental illness. If you are not feeling well or are thinking about taking your own life, try to talk to other people about it. These could be friends or relatives. But there are also a number of support services that you can contact. The telephone counseling service is anonymous, free and available around the clock.

As pro-life organizations recommend: no romanticizing, just reality.
The narrative around suicide should never be treated as a tragic poem or a heroic ballad. It's not "the ultimate romantic escape" or a "poetic solution to life's problems." It's a devastating signal that something has gone terribly wrong. And yes, it's worth remembering that turning a tragic act into a melodramatic fairytale harms everyone: the living, the dead, and the undecided.

I want to thank the user who shared this news with sobriety and respect. Talking about suicide without dramatizing or idealizing it helps immensely with prevention, because it avoids the infamous (and definitely not poetic) Werther effect. For those unfamiliar, that's when someone hears a tragic story and thinks, "Hey, I could give that a try. It almost sounds romantic." Spoiler alert: it's not. Avoiding these sensationalist narratives makes people more likely to stay alive because they don't see the act as a glorious escape from reality.

Suicide is not a performance, it's not art, and it's certainly not a "solution." Treating it with respect, without dressing it up with romanticism or heroism, is the first step in breaking the cycle of idealization that tragically affects the most vulnerable minds. So, thank you again for contributing in a sober and realistic way.

The takeaway? If Black Humor keeps us sane, raw truth saves lives.
