Has anyone been prescribed gabapentin for anxiety?
Do you find it effective?
For me it seems to take a long time to start working, but if I take a high dosage, I eventually feel relief. Hopefully I won't build tolerance to it.
I'd like to know your thoughts...

Not prescribed but used it on and off, helps me relax. Doses differ by person so if you feel like you need a higher dose right away you could speak to your doctor to get higher.

There is some tolerance, usually slowly comes up after about a week or so of use. You can just take a few days off (or taper down into the few days if its been a while and you're on a higher dose) and your tolerance will be lower. Withdrawals aren't too bad compared to other stuff though, thankfully. Benzos can help if extended-usage withdrawals are too much.

Hope it helps for you :) always take care with any medication though, psychological addiction is a strong thing.

I've been prescribed to Gabapentin before but not exactly for anxiety per say. It was because I was having issues with sleeping. Sometimes my sleeping issues can be caused because I feel anxious. It worked for me I forgot what dosage I was taking but at some point it stopped working for me. Hope everything goes well!

i have tried both gabapentin and pregabalin, 300mg. since i don't really eat, one was enough but two was nice. used both for a couple months each. worked well for anxiety as well as letting me sleep. withdrawals weren't great for me personally though.

I am on pregabalin for anxiety, it helps, it makes me have less filter with people, kinda makes you give less of a fuck. I'm still depressed as hell though for many reasons

After going down that road myself I wouldn't recommend it. I started taking pregablin 600 sometimes abusing it 1200-2100

These are.powerful substances and the more.you tell yourself " well my anxiety is so powerful too that I need such Powerful drugs!"
Is only digging the hole deeper for yourself If I could go back I'd have just perseverednwoth.the anxiety and depression because in the long run the amount of drugs ruined my health and I'm sure made me less able.to cope naturally. Get out of the mindset that drugs are the answer.
