I'm trying full suspension from my bedroom door. Rope is tied to a doorknob, and slung over the top of the door. I'm wondering if the door will hold my weight and not snap off the hinges. How much hanging weight can a door hold? I'm somewhere in between 160-180 lbs

The door is your average hollow wooden door with three hinges, each with three screws

Are there any reports of failed or successful attempts by hanging on a door, and not the doorframe or a pull-up bar installed over the door?

I'm tired of failed partial attempts so I've moved on to a method I can't back out of, full suspension

How you gonna do full suspension on a door? Are you short?
And yeah I don't trust doors. Like I feel I won't work. I'm gonna get a pull up bar, book a hotel and do it that way

I am very interested in this issue as well. I would like to do that but doubt about the door holding the weight as well. Also, should the door be open or close? Because if it must be shut as I have read in some threads, I do not have space to put the rope over it.

The pull up bars I have seen need to be screwed on the door frame so that is not a possibility if I want to use a hotel room.

I'm shorter than the door is high, but I'm not short. All one needs to do is not touch the ground, or not be able to put much weight on your feet if you are touching the ground. They say a large number of suicides have people touching the ground anyways

I'm not sure how people do it with a closed door since ropes or other ligatures have thickness which prevents a door from closing at the top

If you don't close the door wont the rope fall off the end when your thrashing about

The thrashing isn't too violent, and my weight plus the friction of rope on wood should prevent the rope from sliding, right?

The problem with hollow core doors is they are, well, hollow. They have a supporting carcass which gives the door added strength, but this is often weakened when cutting the door to fit the hole it goes into. So those types of doors do not make a good choice for full suspension or any other form of hanging. Its not impossible, just improbable, especially if you are not able to close the door which also gives greater stability.

I have tried full suspension in terms of tested the rope on the door with me pulling it and leaving the ground, seemed to work, I just tie a knot on the other side, but have it stuck in the door at the top. The door I'm using has a bolt to keep it shut so if the door doesn't hold my weight the bolt certainly will

I would try to jam the door shut if you can that might spread the force to the door jamb also giving you more strength.

I'm thankful I have a strong metal door in my kitchen seeing as my house is super old and had a addiction added but whoever did it never changed the door.

I'm also sure that you could get full suspension or at least close enough to not have a chance to stand and stop yourself, I'm fairly tall for a woman and I'm my trial/plan set up I was honestly surprised at how much I needed to stand on to get my neck in the belt.

Yeah the door I'm using will jam shut, like bolted shut I don't think I'll have a problem there :). I'll kick the stall away and hopefully pass out within seconds, I'm giving myself an hour to ctb, if I'm still alive then I must be here for a reason lol

You won't pass out within seconds. You'll hang in agonising pain, unable to breathe properly as you choke to death. Please don't try this.

but if I'm trying to ctb surely death is the goal? Pretty or not

Well, yes, but you said 'hopefully pass out within seconds'. I'm telling you that you won't.

Oh yeah I have no doubt what I hope for I won't get but if I ctb that ultimately is the goal so any means neccesary right?

Can I ask why this is I've done some tests and it seems I'll pass out from the blood choke long before a physical choke.

How many times have you tried partial? Do you know why it failed? Maybe it wasn't the door.
