I'm worried about this dog given your level of anger towards someone so innocent… I guess he is lucky he's not your dog:notsure: Cant you just talk to his owner about the issue or keep your door closed?

No need to worry about him, wouldn't lay a hand on him because he's not my dog. While he is an idiot and has not been trained properly by his owner [my sister]. I can't talk about the issue or else I will be blamed for his behavior and I can't keep him out of the room because he's been dumped on me and I have to keep an eye on him because he'll literally shit and piss everywhere if I don't. OVERALL, he's not my responsibility. He's just been dumped on me and saying anything about just gives me a swift "Get over it".

I'm sorry you can't even have peace in your bed. We shouldn't have children or animals forced on us due to other people's decisions. I know how it feels. It's a massive strain. You're not a horrible person for being stressed out about this. I didn't see you threaten to hurt the dog or anything. Can you maybe shut the door and block it with a suitcase/box on whichever side you're on?

If you can't take care of the dog, give him to someone who will love him enough to try to solve the problem
Poor dog, he is innocent, don't abuse the dog, just find someone to take care him

Interesting. I see 2 perspectives of this. It might be that the dog is just annoying to you or its a soul trying its best telling you to get up and do things.

You should tell your sister to keep the dog out of your room and maybe you should get a lock installed on it and have a key and the door locked when you're not there,. It's really your sisters fault the dog wouldn't know any better really!

if you get some talc powder, and when the dog pees, throw tons of talc powder on it. it dries the pee out and also cancels out the smell. u can then wash it at a later time . ive had dogs my whole life and thats what we used to do when they were pups and not yet trained

I know what it's like to have animals drive you crazy. I used to have 3 cats and it was great for the longest time. Unfortunately as they got older...they started vomiting and going to the bathroom pretty much everywhere. You couldn't wake up in the night without having to use a flash light because they surely messed up the floor in the night. Every morning I had to spend over an hour cleaning up every spot they went :/ It was torture and I felt like a slave to the animals.

What's harder for you is it's not even your pet... there's gotta be a way to arrange the owner to take responsibility and if not, is it possible to find a new place to live?

True. The OP didnt give much details as to why the sister left the dog with OP so I cant say much about the owner but I really hope that the dog is safe and sound and that the issue will be resolved soon for OP.

So I want to make this VERY CLEAR. The dog was pushed on me because he was annoying her! Secondly, THERE'S NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE DOG IN MY CARE, I WOULDN'T ABUSE HIM! EVER! I JUST GIVE HIM THE STINK EYE, SAY NOOOOO AND LEAVE IT AT THAT. Sorry if this post came across me seeming like an asshole to the dog! I'm not and I love the little guy, he's just a nuisance on so many levels. I take him constantly out to pee, but he still pees on everything! My post came across as rather aggressive. I'm sorry. I was in the heat of the moment and needed to let out how I felt. Of course I don't ultimately blame him. It is definitely because of terrible training. I gave my sister the usual options to train him but I get my ideas smacked down because it's "abusive" for some reason. Who would've thunk that giving your dogs proper boundaries is abusive. What a home I live in. Pft.

Hiya!
Sucks that the poor pup is weeing in your bed!! I wonder if maybe the dog needs to go out to pee more often than (s)he does right now? Or maybe the dog is bored and looking for attention (negative attention is still attention). Perhaps longer walks or more play would help?

Is it possible the dog has a UTI?

I hear your frudtration, OP, i have had older cats who have done the same thing. There was always a discernible and potentially fixable reason for it.

I understand that the dog is your sister's responsibility. If she's passed that responsibility on to you- and you don't want the dog- please rehome it or surrender it to a rescue. Dogs need + crave love too- and they deserve it.

I am not judging you at all, or your sister. It's just simply if you do not want/love or are not able to care for/meet the dog's needs… give it up. Surrender it to a rescue. It deserves better.

In the meantime while you decide what to do long term, i'd shut the door. :-)

I would never harm a dog but I would absolutely harm an irresponsible sister taking a dog and letting him pee in her depressed brother's room. Confront the sister but never harm that poor creature

He has no UTI, I give him all the attention he needs, he has all those toys in the world, and he gets his walks. He's unneutered and she's refusing to neuter the dog. I can't give him away because he's not mine. SHE STILL WANTS THE DOG, just not the responsibility with having the dog. I'm not mentally apt to take care of an animal anyway. How can I love something else if I don't even love myself.

EDIT: He has once again peed on my bed as I was typing this out. :|

I don't at all believe that you have to love yourself before you can love anything else. I don't know where that idea came from, probably from somebody trying to sell a self-help book.

There is a channel on Youtube called McCann Dog Training and it has lots of good info on how to crate train and house train dogs. It may be unfair for this to fall on your shoulders, but it would make his life (and yours) a lot easier.

I agree. I've done far better in life when I had people around me who I could love and who loved me.

The dog will show signs like circling around and sniffing the floor before he she needs to pee, i understand its not your dog but to reduce your frustration and to prevent an unclean room, let the dog outside and reward when it goes toilet outside. Then the dog is getting a little training and you are getting peace, win win for you both.

I'm completely fed up with this awful and judgmental sentence too. This said, you have to know how to respect yourself and each other so you can be in an ''healthy relationship''

I'd crate train him and etc but I don't even have money to get him one or anything else for that matter. I'm broke and can't even get a job because of the position I'm in and I'm supposed to have the responsibility to care for him and do everything for him? Not fair, not fair at all.

The dog knows to pee outside, still pees inside anyway. There's even a way for the dog to go outside to pee. It's not like he's a puppy either. Always reward him when he goes outside. Still goes inside anyway. On top of that, he's a really stubborn breed of dog. So training him is rather difficult. People get these expensive dogs and can't even train them properly. Just buying him because he looks cool. Then dumping them on their relatives after they're done taking pictures for "the gram". Disgusting.

Then maybe the best thing for all is to rehome the dog, if its trained to go potty out side and has access, then the poor dog is clearly upset/anxious and in need of something that he shenis not getting, ring the RSPCA, itsnnit your responsibility i get that, but your sister doesntbseem to be an responsible owner and its not fair on you or the dog

I don't like dogs and I can absolutely relate to being annoyed about having someone else in your personal space plus that person/animal also destroying your stuff would be infuriating to me.

I'm very sorry you have to suffer @CaliCatCharlie. It's very much okay to vent about this frustating situation.

Maybe tell your sister to take care of her dog herself?
Shouldn't be your "job" to teach it.

Yeah, I probably should. I have a friend who wants him desperately, so I'll give him to her because she loves him. I won't be around long enough to care for him anyway, my time is ticking out and I can feel it.

Yeah, I'm no pet person either. I compromise just for the dog. I'm over here being made to be a babysitter/housemaid. It's ridiculous. I clean up after EVERYONE. No one in the house even has the nerve to clean up after themselves. I'd go in the kitchen and there'd be sticky puddle residue of juice or something and I'd have to clean it up, they don't even try and I get told I'm lazy! It's just absolutely ridiculous. They shit all over the toilet? It's me cleaning it up. I'm so burned out by it all because I shouldn't have to clean up after a bunch of adults nearing their 30s. Imagine have to clean up dog piss and shit and human piss and shit (and sometimes even blood) 24/7.

I am really sorry you are in this ridiculously unfair situation. I think the important thing now is to make sure he doesn't get in your bed to pee, so put him on a leash (tethered to you or a piece of furniture) whenever he is in your room, and keep the door closed when he is somewhere else. Wherever he is tethered you can put his dog bed or just a towel on the floor, with a chew toy to keep him happy. That will also help you keep a better eye on him, so hopefully you can intervene if he looks like he is about to pee. Tethering in the house is not cruel, it is actually how many people housetrain without a crate.
