I am really desperate to end it as soon as possible and cannot afford another failed attempt so I want to try going for full hanging... But there is something I don't get, a few sources say that it can take 1-3 minutes to lose consciousness... 3 minutes!? Isn't it meant to be a lot quicker especially when you are hanging free so your carotid arteries are fully compressed...? Or is the pain of hanging entirely on your jaw so big that you stay conscious? Is there something I am missing?
Any other tips/advice will be welcome... I am terrified of this but right now it seems like my only option... thanks guys

I believe it's compression of the airway that takes 1-3 minutes to lose consciousness

yes but aren't the arteries compressed at the same time? won't this result in consciousness being lost quicker?

Felt like ages but maybe 10-30 seconds something like that. I know that's not very accurate but I lowered myself off the stool rather than hopped or jumped in order to try and lessen the possible pain.

Did you do full or partial?
That time it was full suspension. I wish I still lived in that house.. I had a great spot to hang the noose from.

How did you get down if it was full suspension?

Would you be willing to try full again if you were desperate or was it too horrifying an experience?

I didn't kick the stool away and managed to scramble back on in a panic.

It's weird. I both never, ever want to go through that again but also would really like another go. I can't really explain why other than unfinished business maybe.

by doing it right you mean right knot and rope, perhaps a bit of padding, rope at the back of the neck...? anything else?

I totally get that........if you kick the stool away next time you won't fail.....that's what's best about full suspension, no matter the pain, there is no escape if done right......of course hopefully with as little pain as possible

I would agree with that......if you do it the right way with the right rope......no way you are hanging there conscious for 3 minutes

I think 3 minutes is only if you use a too thick rope with a too tight bound hangmanĀ“s knot, that will not really tighten. Otherwhise it will be quick, cause the artries will also be closed as in partail hanging. look at many videos in the internet, also from execution hangings, where people are hanged by a cran in iran. ItĀ“s always really quick. I think there are too much pro lifers that tell it will be slowly and painful, just to shock people that are thinking about hanging themselves.

ItĀ“s easy to see if people have passed out in the videos. You can see it at their movements

I tried partial suspension and the blackout came after cca 30 seconds. I think, complete hanging must be more quick, because weight is bigger. You must use a loop, which tightens easy. It is useful lubricate the rope.

If the rope is high enough on the neck it only compresses the arteries which is less painful and takes less time to lose consciousness
