• Hey Guest,

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I've been fighting the urge to cancel and have been successful so far. I really need to try and get better, and I know I can't do it without proper help.
I've already written some notes on what I want to say and some questions to ask, mostly based on suggestions from the thread pinned to the recovery board.
I am a little worried about bringing up any suicide related things, but hopefully that's unfounded. I think about ctb frequently but honestly have no real plan or intention to do it. So that should be fine I think? Once I got sent to a hospital because someone misunderstood me on that sort of thing, but I'd hope someone trained wouldn't make a mistake like that.

Anyway. Do you have tips or general support for me? I would appreciate it.

Hello ! Good luck with your appointment , just make sure that you clarify to the profesional that you don't have any actual plans to do it but that you have toughts like that. I believe that should be fine , but maybe that also depends on local law. In my country for example if a patient shows signs of being dangerous to themselves or others they have to send them to a mental hospital or something like that.
Anyways stay safe , and sending you a lot of strenght

1st off are you talking with a psychiatrist and also a psychologist at your 1st session?

Id it is just the psychiatrist and he/she recommends meds, I would ask if he/she is readily available, as my 1st time I was given a script for Zoloft, filled it and started taking it. Holy heavens did my mental wheels fall off fast and suicide ideation came into play fast. I called and talked with her, and we tried Celexa next and have been on it for a long time and it works well.

Same as with like Klonopin as I was given a script for that and I asked about side effects and withdrawals. Found out withdrawals can be much worse than like opioids are, nasty.

For me at least and I am paranoid, I asked right off the bat, if I was 100% honest, was the cops going to be called and I was going to be hauled away, OR could we talk about it in a rational sense to help me.

If it is also a psychologist, I let he/her lead with all questions then I would want to focus on just one or two, as it usually is about 1 hour. I never liked how some would hopscotch all over the place and I would leave confused, 1 or 2 issues/topics and drill down on them to get a more complete picture, then next time move on and not spin my wheels regurgitating from the last visit.

I found the talk sessions to be VERY useful.

Good luck and you will do GREAT!
