Amidst all the bullshit that has been going on in 2020 so far, here is some good news.

After the constitutional court in Germany ruled the ban on commercially assisted suicide, that had been in effect since 2015, unlawful, thereby – at least in principle – enabling organizations like Dignitas (non-profit as well as for-profit) to carry out assisted suicides again, the first assisted suicide has been carried out in a care facility for the elderly.

(Ban lifted in February 2020)

(First successful case of assisted suicide in June 2020)

The organization is called "Verein Sterbehilfe":
It seems their website is not available in English, but I'm sure you can contact them in English through their info-address ([email protected]) or give them a call
(+49 40 2351 9100).

Yikes, 2000 euro membership fee. In suicidal currency that's 2,5 N's from A.

But thank you for sharing this. I am hopeful for the future of assisted suicide voluntary dying everywhere.

This is a good read and I hope more countries in the future follow Germany's example as well as the pioneers of assisted suicide, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Belgium to name a few.

2k euros is still far cheaper than Dignitas, so there is a start.

I don't think Germany allows internationals to come for it, though. Just Germans. ♥️

As I said, 2000 is only the membership fee. The additional cost of assisted suicide could be as high as 7000 euro.
Plus cremation/funeral, cemetary, mourning ceremony, etc. Germany, no, this entire world has become very expensive in the last 20 years, it's just ridiculous. You have to pay for every f*cking thing...

The 7000 euros would cover coroner and cremation costs, if it's anything like Switzerland etc which is similar in price (10k Euros)

No that's not true. The assistance is between 2000 and 7000... at least that is what it says on their website.

Yes, but you have to be 'austherapiert' aka treatment resistent / incurable.

Are you sure? Any sources on this?

Not specially, just that I've read a ton to remember reading over and over that Switzerland is the only country to allow internationals, ever.

Does treatment resistant to mental illness count. Or is it for end of life. I can't read German. (Tried calling them, can't understand anything)

I've read nothing here about legislation. Don't you have to have laws in place first. Does anybody mind giving me more information.

You can actually got to other places like Belgium. But you would have to be there for at least 6 months for doctor relationship. Not completely the same I know. But you can go as non citizen.

Any news on Dignatas Germany. As the German version is only available in German. Have they established any organization.I mean one that now would assist suicide in Germany. Rather than going to Switzerland.

As I said, you have to be deemed incurable for them to accept you as an otherwise healthy person with "mental illness". This is a standard procedure in Switzerland as well, sorry.

Belgium is more lenient, but you will need a residence there. You could also look into the Netherlands.

Good luck

There is no legislation in place now afaik. Passive assisted suicide is now legal, active assisted suicide is a felony. Suicide is not a crime, so assisting someone in taking their own life is not a crime; that's the legal basis I think, but I'm not sure. They simply lifted a ban on it from 2015.

Theoretically, I could serve my grandma nembutal if she is of sound mind and I make sure to leave the room for a while.
Does treatment resistant to mental illness count
Sorry I missed this part. Yes, treatment resistent Depression should be eligible.

At this point, I believe that Pegasos is hands down the best bet for any international with physical or mental illness. They will not take young people with mental illness alone. That is very hard anywhere. But they definitely are the easiest to communicate with, require the least amount of paperwork, and get it done quickly. Very kind and friendly people, too. That's just my opinion. I'm going in less than 2 weeks.

They seemed friendly and yes less paperwork. But they rejected me on age.

I think age will be a likely stopper everywhere without very significant physical illness.

Yeah, I don't know why though. Personally the age limit they're comfortable with is to high. They think people in their thirties can't make their own choices.

There is a 36 year old that was accepted on here for mental illness but also physical problems. I think that the reason they are strict on age is because all cases are reviewed by some review board. The MD at eternal circle (Switzerland) got in huge trouble for a SIXTY year old with mental illness, I believe @enjolras posted the details awhile ago. They get shut down if they start getting outside the lines.

In Belgium they are the least strict when it comes to age I think, but the residency thing is a huge barrier of course.
