I'm not sure if it's covid or what, I've seen a double digit amount of therapists. I've found a few that were good, but didn't work out. (most recently one had regressive views on a minority group I belong to, before that the last good guy just stopped doing therapy (trolled XD)). I hate it the second to last therapist was actually so bad, I just want to complain about him, he ended up just saying I had complex issues he couldn't figure out, SO HELPFUL!! Anyways, it turns out he went to an online school so maybe that's part of it. It's just so annoying. I just don't know what to do. I have so many conflicting issues any time I look online for people with experince in all areas I'll find like 7 results and then many of them are fasely listed as taking new people, or lie about the areas they are comfortable in I guess to get more people? (one for example claimed to have X type of training and was actually just still in the process of getting it, another claimed to have X type of training, they did, but they didn't practice it). What is wrong with these people? It's like they're saying "I want you to kill yourself. / it is hopeless / just give up now" AAAAAAAAA

Yeah the wise folk who just screech "go to therapy" at you whenever you complain, as if a) finding a good therapist was doable for most people b) therapy worked for all issues/all people do drive me up the wall a bit. Of course, many people are helped by therapy but that doesn't mean we can discount the numerous cases where it was a waste of resources or actively harmful.

Rest assured, your exasperation is warranted. I commend you for making an effort in the first place.

Over 50 years ago a consumer group tested TV repair shops by taking ten TV sets and putting the same problem in each. They found that three would try to upsell them on replacing a picture tube (expensive). Two claimed to have fixed a problem but didn't find the actual problem. Three gave up and said they couldn't find the problem. The last two actually fixed the problem and charged a fair price.

This was a small sample from long ago, but it does illustrate that there is a distribution of talent and ethics that can impact the efficacy of purchased services.
