Hey guys, kind of new here, was here a few months ago about a failed attempt on the "Nighty-night" method. I got my SN shortly after that and was just waiting for the right time to do it. Seems like that time is coming up. Got my meto last week, tested my SN with an aquarium kit and seems to be legit. Probably going to CTB next Sunday at a hotel or something. My dad is out of the country until Wednesday and I don't want him to find my body so I figured I'll splurge a little at a nice hotel and have my last night there and have them find me the next day when I miss check-out. Only thing I'm nervous about is having my dad maybe pay for any expenses the hotel might have to clean the room up. In any case I'm glad I found this website to lurk and have somewhere to vent to other people. Hopefully next week goes well.

Could be nice to leave some indication of what some poor employee may find when entering the room. To cut done on any trauma induced to tohers.
Good luck with everything. And may you find the peace you are looking for.

Yes, I was planning on leaving a note lodged in the door so they would see it when they open the door. EIther that or a note stuck on the bathroom door. Just debating whether I kick the bucket by a desk, in a bed or in the bathroom floor. Just debating if they'd charge the same for clean-up regardless of where I do it lol. Thank you for the kind thoughts.

This could be another factor. Maybe have the TV on at a suitable volume to cover up any of the noise you may make going through the cycle of death,

Or put a chair in front of the door, far enough that it doesn't get knocked over, with a note on the chair. Maybe put a large piece of furniture behind it to block the view, like standing the desk on end or moving something like an armoire if possible.

I don't know what country your writing from and also I'm no expert.
But I can't imagine a hotel being able to charge the family of someone who had died/commited suicide in there premises. I'm writing from the UK and when I think about it, it would be absolutely absurd if it was even possible.. and the more I think about it as I write the more I think it's impossible... In the UK.
But... I plan to research it.

I'm from Canada, but I've seen some rumours (mostly gossip online) that the hotel will charge the estate of the deceased for the clean up of the room. I mean it does make sense, if a little cold for them to do so.

Ok yeah I thought that if you were to be in America or Canada then there is the possibility.. I know or atleast have heard of how easy or accessible it is to take people to court for (off topic) minor grievances so yeah I'm now leaning more towards that being a possibility.
Very cold though, I'd imagine maybe small Motos etc doing this, but maybe less so with chains of hotels (or more luxury hotels) .. again I don't know. Weird world we live in

I think the concern is that the room is reserved on her dad's card, so any damages can potentially be charged to the card.

In that case most definitely, maybe even as far to say they could charge for the days/ nights if any that the room is out of service

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. The card is under my name but my "estate" would be him and my brother so I don't want them to get dinged too hard. Like on one hand I don't want to do it at home cuz I don't want that place to have my death attached to it. But on the other, I have no idea how the hotel will deal with the expenses. Kind of a lose-lose situation.

It's nice to see you are actually thinking this whole thing out. It shows compassion to some of the party's involved.

Yeah completely understandable not wanting to do it at home...
I'm kinder at a loss for ideas, I mean here in the UK I could go to a hotel and pay cash providing I had ID, this if it was there policies to want to charge myself or who ever extra for there inconvenience or damages there would be no physical way of them doing so. As far as I'm aware here (UK) debt, fines etc does not get passed onto family members (could be wrong as I know some countries that exists).. so what I'm basically trying to say is can you not pay in cash... I can't imagine a hotel after the fact calling or contacting your family for money in a time when there grieving etc.. like the press would have a field day

Speaking as someone from the States who worked in insurance claims....

The hotel likely has insurance with a deductible. The insurance company may go after the estate for their cleanup expenses and the deductible.

From my research, your estate's executor has first claim for expenses incurred on behalf of the estate, then creditors and claims against the estate, then what's left goes to heirs.

Thank you. I've though about it for a while and I love my family dearly. I know this is going to be traumatic for them and I'm just trying to minimize any issues as much as possible.

I guess that's a good thing. I just don't want them to use my death as an excuse to nickle and dime my family for the expenses related to my death. Do you have an estimate on how much that deductible is?
