Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I have never had a bad experience yet therapists make me scared. I get so nervous I got misdiagnosed with 'social phobia'. Lady no, I am not scared of socialisation I am scared of YOU.
Psychiatrists I can work around after a while but the meds make everything worse for me.
As for psychologists I fear that they will know too much and just lock me up I guess?

How do I overcome my irrational fear of therapy?

Have you ever tried a group therapy? That way you're not one on one with a therapist but it kind of opens you up to them more and if you're comfortable with them you can share.

Imagine them naked :)

Seriously though I think it's a power thing so if you can do something that makes you feel a bit more powerful it might help

If you are afraid of being locked up, I'd say it's not a completely irrational fear. Because in most countries and states medical staff has to lock up people, if they are deemed to be a danger to others or themselves. So I would suggest to have a look at the relevant laws in your state or country and know what you can tell and what you can't tell a therapist, if you don't want to be locked up. In many cases it's ok to talk about general ideas about suicide as long as you assure that you don't have any plans for the near future about killing yourself.
