it's a constant anxiety i have about ctb. I'll think of drifting into darkness but get interrupted by the thought of hell... if it weren't for that I'd have little problem with ctb. Anyone else feel similar?

But if you're not religious why do you think there's a hell? You might not fall into the typical religion sections but there's a belief-that hell exists.
I mean obviously no one is truly an atheist cause everyone believes something but it doesn't have to be a religion thing, but if you are scared of hell then I feel like you are religious kinda

im not religious and I believe there's just gonna be void

I don't fear hell because there's no evidence of its existence - I don't consider religious texts as evidence because I believe they're works of fiction written by mortal men. What I do fear is returning here as a conscious being, especially as a wild or farmed animal, whose suffering I imagine to be on average much worse than the average human's. Modern neuroscience gives us good reason to believe that most organisms with a nervous system - potentially even insects - possess some degree of conscious awareness, and with it, the capacity to suffer.

I was raised Catholic growing up, but fell out of religion before my confirmation. I describe myself as being apathetic towards religion. If god is real, then he's real. If he's not, then he's not. It really doesn't change anything. And I feel the same way about the existence of heaven or hell. If it's real or not it doesn't change the fact that every day I wake up to my own personal living hell.

Reminds me of some fishes which knew how to avoid being caught in a net.

Also lab mice who can circumvent a maze.

There is a tiny part in my brain that is still irrationally scared of the Christian hell (since that is the version of hell I was raised with).

I attribute it to my survival instinct kicking in, trying to convince me not to die.

I think it's from how Christianity is so ingrained in US culture.. surrounded with the idea that it exists your whole life. It makes me think "what if they were right"

So maybe I could be unconsciously partly religious from that

That could be a possibility, really wish my SI would let me at least think in peace

"Hell" is an option, and it could be way worst than the classical/religious idea. My idea of hell for example is a mental state of everlasting consciousness. I think at it often, but I know that there's no room for fear; we must be ready to passively accept everything.

Just the uncertainty of it, it feels like such a gamble but then I'm convinced I'd go there anyways and that I'm delaying the inevitable.. it sucks

I couldn't have put it in better words.
Either there are many hells or this, life, is the only one.
I'm not religious but I hope something better is coming, even if it's just eternal nothingness.

If you are non-religious then I don't really understand the fear of Hell. If you are Christian, then Your sins will be forgiven.

I think hell is just too scare people. I've consciously tried too live a Good life yet still end up in mental pain. If I successfully CBT I'm not scared of hell I know i tried my hardest to be righteous.

Reminds of a Greek philosopher who before he was going to die said he was ready for whatever follows be it everything, something, anything or nothing. He made peace with his death.

It's sad the fear that religion instils in people. Way I see it we are free and control our destiny without judgement from outmoded methods of control and coercion.

Do you think that's true if you're suffering from severe pain or severe neurological injuries of some sort? I believe in Jesus and God and I am scared as I am in severe uncontrollable pain from my Levaquin toxicity and Lyme disease.

Yes it's like we have freewill and then given a list of Do's and don'ts.

Which brings into question the whole notion of freewill.

I know that the list of Do's and don'ts are to prevent psycho behaviour in society but we already have laws for that.

To my knowledge it's not a legal crime to commit suicide or attempt it not in the country I'm residing in so why is it considered a religious crime.

I know it stems from the old testament one of the ten commandments thou shalt not kill, but when you read other old testament stories there are loads of instances where people were told to kill by religious decree. The death of the first born of Egypt and Caanites.

In the old testament the devil came for Moses saying this man killed another man he belongs to me and archangel Michael said your claim is rebuked. So unless your Moses you are up the creek without a paddle.

Anyone who says you go to hell if you commit suicide has clearly never been in as much mental distress as us. When your considering suicide you clearly have had more than you can handle. I find it cruel and warped that religion threatens us with hell for ending our mental pain.

Skybox I feel very similar to the way you feel. The thought of Hell scares me as I am Catholic. I haven't been to church in many years due to my disability from Levaquin toxicity and severe Lyme disease. I tried to live a good life obey the Ten Commandments but I know in my heart I could have done a lot more and lived a better life. And now I may suffer for yes. I never could have predicted becoming disabled and in severe uncontrollable pain. Had I not become disabled I wouldn't be considering ctb. I hope there is some leniency by God to understand our circumstances.

Religion has always been used by the psychopath elites to domesticate humans, and turn them into servile peasents.
It also expliots are natural fear of death by fabricating metaphysical meaning when there isn't one.

the bible was written by various priests (and if you believe in something they were told what to write by god) and assuming they were told what to write by some divine being they still could have added on whatever they wanted and no one would have known so there is no evidence that people who commit suicide are sent to hell for that reason alone
