As the title says. Has anyone else failed with helium or compression suicide? What do you think went wrong? About a month and a half ago I´d finally gotten everything ready and attempted to self-deliver with helium and an exit bag. I´d emailed with the director of the helium supply company and felt reassurance that the helium purity was enough to do the trick. I checked to make sure there were no holes in the bag and did my best to do everything according to instructions. Cue me waking up 17 hours later having vomited everywhere and still feeling queasy. I still don´t know where I went wrong. The only thing I can think of is that, checking afterwards, I noticed that the tubes themselves have a really strong disgusting smell to them. I don´t know if this smell might have been so overpowering that I tugged the bag off semi-unconsciously.
After that I no longer felt reassured about the helium method and tried to move on to something else. After reading about compression suicide using a tourniquet I felt this was the way to go. Tried it Sunday according to the literature – over and over for hours. No result. I guess I just couldn´t get it tight enough or get the angle in, maybe because of how my jaw/neck etc is shaped.
I´m starting to get why the suicide attempt statistics are miles higher than successful suicides. Killing yourself shouldn´t be rocket science. I´m just trying to do it in a controlled way that isn´t too painful, insofar as it´s possible.
