Vincent Van Gogh if you consider being brilliant at art smart.

Edit: Found this on Quora lol "Vincent van Gogh was definitely superior in intelligence: he was widely read in three languages; wrote beautifully, with passion, poetry, and wit; could discuss abstract concepts cogently and persuasively."

He tries to say your mom as a reply whenever he posts. I find it quite funny but this one is a bit too personal for me.

I wouldn't know because most of them probably died without achieving any kind of notoriety.

Didn't he also cut a chunk out of his ear?

Can't believe I forgot about Turing.. very sure now that my brain is going to mush.
If I remember correctly Turing was posthumously pardoned by the queen after having been persecuted for being homosexual.
The others I will have to look into.
