I heard something interesting on this board.

Someone made the thread ̈ "Loneliness is unbearable".
Someone else replied;

You've got to get to the point where you are ok being alone.

I mastered being alone and so can ́t relate to loneliness. It has been so much worse being around the beasts called people. Physical isolation is welcomed and the thing I thrive on. Firmly Cycling to the grocery-store - or around it - once or twice a day keeps me on track. I never truly realised I might be closer to death than most with embracing physical isolation. Me: female / in 40s / no kids / jobless for 1,5 decade.

Who can relate?

I can relate to getting over being "lonely to an extent" I spend all my days inside the house in my room and rarely go outside it just doesn't bother me anymore and I don't attempt to resolve the situation.

I relate to you in everyway except age, 26 but i feel like everyone's senior. I was just thinking earlier that im so touch starved, i get extreme asmr at the slightest friendly hand on the shoulder, and im constantly thinking about how much more toll the average life obastacle takes on me. Though i have to maintain a job, i do still feel incredibly isolated and do realize how incurable it is. Its scary. It feels like a disease thats killing me. Its just a pain navigating what you both enjoy and suffer from.

i can understand where you're coming from but i think i have a different take. i don't necessarily "welcome" isolation so much as it has become a necessity for me. i find it extremely tiring to be around others for a number of reasons - i'm tired of pretending to be okay, i'm tired of getting the well-meaning advice, i'm tired of trying to relate to others. also, for me i find it necessary to distance myself from others as i prepare to leave this world.

i think generally we are social creatures and being alone is hard on us - so much so that a ton of us who do isolate end up quite engaged, even if somewhat superficially, with this community. (and by superficially i mean the fact we are being anonymous and the level of engagement is generally limited to posts, texts, etc., and am not referring to the quality of those interactions).

so i guess i would say that for me it's not so much about getting to a point where i'm okay with being alone so much as i just need it to get by.

I lost my partner last May. Im still gettimg used to being alone, well not fully alone because i work full time but when i come home apart from maybe a few messages between friends i am alone. I sleep alone which im still getting used to. Sometimes when im off i realise i actually havnt spoken to another human being for days. Its odd feeling alone in such a crowded world.

People are inherently lonely and not realizing it.

Eventually you will still be lonely but then become more averse to being around people than anything and won't be able to imagine things being any other way.
