Are there any methods involving electricity? I was reading some posts on the Darwin Awards, and apparently someone had heart failure due to their charging iPhone falling into the bath with them, and receiving an electric shock from the charger... it made me wonder if there are any methods involving electricity.

I believe most modern buildings have circuit breakers meaning a surge like that would be shut off. You'd be left in pain. An old method I believe.

But. I could be wrong.

I say an old method as it did used to work. But advancements in tech have stopped this being possible.

No, no, no, no just another silly way to suffer even more.

What about sticking a butter knife in an electrical outlet? I am seriously asking!

No you'd feel pain from the initial jolt and then the supply would cut off before you died. If it was this easy I'm sure this forum would have 25% of its current active members. Fuses could be bypassed via electric box wiring. But still very painful and highly unlikely to not be cut due to surge.

In your home?No.
Outside?Potentially yes,but you have to consider the risk of the current knocking you out unconscious instead of killing you.

Oh right, I don't have any knowledge of these things really. I was told to be super careful when drilling into a wall that had circuits or whatever, but the fuse would just stop the electric shock being too bad, so you're not actually at risk when doing DIY etc?

While I'm not expert on methods involving electricity, I'd imagine it is not as reliable nor peaceful as other methods (N, SN, SA, inert gases - N2, Ar, CO) and also like others have said, it will be very painful and still unlikely to result in a successful ctb. Electricity reminds me of the old execution method, the electric chair where the death row inmate would be strapped to a chair, hair shaved, then given an 'natural' sponge soaked in salt water and then have an helmet attached to his/her head and then given lots of electricity. It looks like it will be very painful before the condemned finally passes.

@Pulpit2018 is actually is right and there is a video (too graphic to show here) of a guy who fried to death on a roof while holding the power lines as he cooks from inside out, then after a while, his body limp, falls from the roof, presumably dead after such a long fry. It doesn't look like a pleasant way to go.

I actually wanted to make this thread about a week ago but forgot it, because I too saw several times on the news that someone got electrocuted by charging their phone while taking a bath.

If you might be found/interrupted, you would need it to be obvious/warnings before they came to you, because if they touch you, they may also be electrocuted I think.

There are actually quite a few instances of this, by the looks of things. 2 in Russia.
