Earthquakes are not the will of god!.

Some people are saying that the earthquake in Turkey ( or however you say it now ) is the will god.

Why would a loving god who supports the sanctity of life, inflict such punishment upon people and.children. Why doesnt Putin get his own earthquake?. Most theologians will try to explain it.along the lines of ' the great mystery' or the will of the omnipresent.

I believe there is no god, only the cosmic god that manifests the naturally occurring disasters like tsunamis and famine and earthquakes. When my life finally ends, i will cease with the knowledge of knowing this. That my disease and suffering was not a punishment and that hell is humankind made.

Yeah- exactly. IF there is a God- we should ALL be REALLY worried- take a look around... what do you think will appease them? Good and/or religious people get shit on just as much as everyone else. Unless our reward/punishment comes later in an afterlife I suppose but where's the justice/morality here? IF they have anything to do with the afterlife too- I think we're all screwed.

Plus- I REALLY value choice. I believe it's what makes me free. I don't want to be a slave or a servant following rules in order to either be rewarded, or punished. It's not to say I live lawlessly! I'm incredibly square actually and I believe in following laws and respecting one another.

I just don't enjoy trying to live up to impossible standards and being made to feel guilty that I can't. What the f@!k am I supposed to do about 'original sin' for example? It's not my fault Adam and Eve ate an apple. Why were they forbidden knowledge anyway? Why did God want mankind to be ignorant? Why create a species with the capacity to be inquisitive, forbid them to do a certain random thing and then, just wait for them to f@!k up? Is subservience what God wants above everything else? REALLY?!!

Sorry- that set me off on a whole long off-topic God rant. No doubt- I'm going to hell- whether I CTB or not.

Is the devil stronger than God then? Is the devil better friends with mother nature? I suppose mankind is very susceptible to devilry. We have likely screwed up nature enough to bring about natural disasters upon ourselves. So, I suppose you could argue that the devil only has to work through us to bring about natural disasters via global warming and climate change.

If the devil is Lucifer- a fallen angel (because he had a disagreement with God- he believed mankind wasn't worthy to enter heaven I believe) then- didn't God create him to begin with? If I'm honest, I'm not really well read enough to argue but I just struggle with it all to be honest.

If God is the supreme creator- then surely he/she/it created the serpent or the angel Lucifer? Unless the devil was already a separate entity? But surely- God is/was all knowing- didn't he/she/it see the potential for the serpent and Lucifer turning out 'bad'. Why didn't/doesn't God destroy the devil? Presumably he/she/it has the power to do so. That surely means God WANTS us to be tested- to suffer and fail and end up in hell. Also- the grounds for 'bad' in Gods eyes seems just to be someone who disagrees with them.

I guess I just have trust issues. I don't like the thought of living under a dictatorship. We've been designed to have enquiring minds- it's what's enabled us to become so dominant. Perhaps that was the devil's doing also but why give us the potential to question and then put limiters on it- which presumably got broken when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and then- punish us ALL for it?

I don't know. I suppose I like certain versions of God- the idea you can gain strength when you need it most. I also fully acknowledge that mankind is VERY susceptible to some VERY harmful traits- greed, selfishness, ruthlessness. Still- I'm not sure these come from an exterior source. I think it's pretty lazy to blame stuff on a God or the devil.

Or to say that blindly following either is a partcularly good thing. I doubt many of us are privelaged to receive the ACTUAL WORD OF GOD for instance. Most of the time we are being given interpretations by other humans. Humans that have their own agendas. Think of all the wars and killings done in the name of religion.

Anyhow- apologies. I think faith can be a very positive thing for some people. The last thing I want to do is insult people here. I think most of us have a kind of version of God and religion- if we believe at all. Plus- who really knows anyway? We're all entitled to believe in what we want to. I just like to question I suppose. I'm sorry if it has offended you though.

Earthquakes are neutral events. It's just natural. All the relief on planet Earth was formed thanks to the movements of tectonic masses. Winter too can be considered a disaster because it is too cold. But man invented clothes. Against the earthquake there are now standards in the building... Man adapts or does not adapt to nature... No one will do it for him.

No. The devil has dominion over the earth but God has even more power than he does.

The devil wanted to be like God. Therefore, he banished him from heaven.

God does not destroy the devil because it is not His plan. In the bible he wrote the devil's destiny.

These are interesting topics to debate and no doubt this thread would have many comments.

People can't accept that 20-something thousand people died just because. They need to assign a reason to it. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense that their god would allow it. Therefore... it must've been his doing.

I'm so over human beings, their limited comprehension and their dependence on spirits.

Especially Muslims have completely lost the concept of truth and belief. According to them, God is real and anyone who says that there is no god will deny this fact. The perception of reality is distorted by those who fight and kill for the sake of religion and are hostile to anyone who does not believe. Fanatics, all psychotic cases. They do not use their beliefs to beautify their inner world but to shape the world and fight. If ISIS took over the world, all men and women would look like one person. It's like Agent Smith copying himself in The Matrix. These people are really dangerous.

I'm in a shitty Asian country where the majority is Muslim. I am worried for Europe. European civilization has paid a high price for the way it has come. Muslims in Europe have 4-5 children. They have children in Germany just to receive money from the state and live without working. Although not in the near future, Muslims will have a large population in Europe. If you think they will show you the same tolerance you show them, you are naive.

God must have done it. If I was him I would destroy absolutely everything with a meteor. Humans are no good at all. He has all reasons to be mad and angry at this society. The only sad part is that innocents suffer for the consequence of the bad majority.

I'd prefer to respect the suffering of affected people and help if possible rather than use this event to launch an intellectual excursion into theology.

Not so much ' the will' but the hyprocacy of humans who value the sanctity of life in the name of god and yet along comes god and destroys his children. And after the geological disaster, humankind sends prayers for healing. why didn't ' god' prevent this disaster and all other catastrophes, diseases, etc . I raise this point from a personal point of view because when my last day arrives, i will cease knowing i did not do wrong, that im not being punished and that a loving god would allow autonomy in the face of suffering, wherever and however.
