My options are limited rn. Can this work? How long till I lose consciousness and die?

My guess is your SI will kick in before you pass out and you'll rip it off.

I wouldn't recommend it, since hypercapnia is super uncomfortable. If you were to do it, you'd probably need some way to restrain yourself from ripping the duct tape off, maybe tie your hands? This article says that it takes about 10-12 minutes to die from drowning, but I'd assume suffocation would be similar. It also says that you'd loose consciousness at about 2 minutes.
I'd recommend waiting for a better method to become available to you, but ultimately, the choice is yours. I wish you the best

I see where you're coming from, but I feel as if this method would be incredibly uncomfortable. But I'm probably biased because I have a phobia of suffocation.

I'm starting to think this will be my only opinion. I've learned that if one really wants to ctb, they have to toss the fear of pain to the side. That's where I currently am. I'm tried partial, passed out but the rope kept breaking. I ordered n but it never arrived. Now I'm faced with accepting they pain that comes with doing it in a less preferred way. I have enough money to order a nice hotel room, a pair of handcuffs, some gorilla tape and a few turkey bags. It terrifies me but not as much as my future of a long unhappy life filled with struggle and upheaval. Thank you for reminding me that there is a way. There is always a way. My dad always told me I'm life, if you really want something, you don't always get it the way you want but perhaps in the way it needs to be delivered. That's the only good thing he ever did for me because I'm learning to accept my reality. I want off this planet.

Sounds very painful. If you have limited options and not much money, the carotid method with tourniquet (amazon USD12,-) might be a better option.

I'm sure you'd reach a point where you'd want/need to rip the tape off. The only way it may work, IMO, as others have said, is to have your hands restrained. You may need to immobilize your entire body, somehow, even with your hands restrained, to keep from being able to get to something, IE edge of a desk, light switch, corner of a table, faucet, etc., whereby you could rub up against something and get the tape off that way. Hard. Hard. Hard. IMO.

I know this is an older thread. But I just want to say from experience that duct tape doesn't work. I tried 4 or 5 times, and I could still breathe every time. The tape just doesn't seal completely on the varied planes of a face.

At least that's my very disappointed conclusion.

This won't work for multiple reasons. One, duct tape over the nose and mouth doesn't create an air tight seal. Two, SI will kick in and you'll rip the tape off.

The duct tape method leads to death quickly. Asphyxiation by occulsion of nose and mouth by duct tape: Two unusual suicides. To me it seems that this method is the most sensible suicide method. I just wonder how they could cope with the panic over the head. However, the most common suicide methods among doctors are drugs and suffocation.
