Would it be possible for an individual to make their own methylphenidate (Ritalin Concerta)? This is a stimulant drug. Is it possible to make this by yourself?

My guess is that it's too hard to make. Besides stimulant suicides are very painful. Pick a method that isn't painful. Save your dignity.

Yes. It's called synthesizing. Synthesizing ritalin is difficult and heavily controlled. Hydrogenating is your biggest obstacle besides sourcing your chemicals.

If you figure out how to do it, let me know.

Synthesis of ritalin is no longer protected under a patent. A Google search will bring up instructions, in which you need an understanding of chemistry to understand, or the risk of being harmed is very likely.

Of course not limited to sourcing, the potential risks in itself of manufacturing, and pressing it.

Not asking for suicide method obviously. I'm trying to find a way to a cheap remedy for adhd.

No way in hell you could do that synthesis at home. Dexamphetamine has an easier method.

So where do I start?
If you're asking these sorts of questions, you have probably never set foot into an academic organic chemistry class or anything related. Chemistry is all hands on, a book is not going to teach you everything that you need to know. You also won't become a wizard overnight. Ryan, I believe you are way over your head on this one.

Read papers. Learn how to extract. Then move onto synthesis. Once you've gotten comfortable with extractions (because quite frankly, children can do it), continue reading. Synthesis is dangerous if you're totally clueless.

When learning you can supplement your reading material with ChemWiki.
