Pretty much my two available options at the moment. Falling is scarier to do, but is more instant. Was looking down from seven stories today and the fear hit me.

Drowning seems more peaceful to enact, but the longer it goes, the scarier and more agonizing it would be. Unless I attempt a shallow water blackout.

Both aren't guaranteed deaths, but falling seems more fatal than drowning. Apparently you can be revived after death from drowning. However, long term repercussions of falling and surviving seem much worse than brain damage from drowning. Plus my body would be way gruesome/traumatizing.

I could ask around for heroin or fentanyl which isn't guaranteed. Would have to spend a lot. SN is hard to order without raising suspicion. Would suck to waste money and be unsuccessful.

Seven stories is too low. I wouldn't risk it.

Drowning is too scary for me, I'd panic.

Save the money, if you can. You don't want to survive a fall.

Don't go with 7 stories. Drowning could be done, but keep in mind it won't be fun.

Why not both? But seriously falling would be preferable over drowning but 7 stories is not enough unless you went head first. Drowning i think would depend on how you do it. Like if you were knocked out, drown, then die no problem, but if you were awake those last minutes would feel like your gasping for the very thing you hate which is life. I think it would just conflict things especially if you survive. Same is true with jumping but it could be an instant death if done right.

Yeah I'd certainly have to do it head first, from what I've read there's about a 90% chance of fatality. I fell from a few feet a couple weeks ago and that was enough to break some bones in my face so I think seven stories would be enough. Really would be gruesome nonetheless.

Given the 3 choices for it, I would go with falling because death is much more sudden and I can pass out without suffocation. While drowning can eventually result in death (provided one isn't resuscitated in time or rescued), it is rather very unpleasant up until you lost consciousness. Also with falling, I would still go for either a very high cliff or at much higher height and preferably land on my head to ensure death.

With only seven stories, the probability is much less than 90%. I can't find the proper reference right now, though. To be really sure you need a fall from >100ft.

All I have to go on is 4 fatal jumps here in where I live, all off of parking garages. 7-8 stories...But that's just the ones plastered all over the news when it happened (there were two in one week a few years ago) so I don't know anything about the ones that failed, or if it is even a thing anymore. While obsessively researching this summer, there were a lot of accounts of deaths from 7 stories, but then again, reporting is well...reporting. So who knows. I'm sure there are "realistic" statistics out there somewhere.

That's a tough one. I would pick falling 70 feet over drowning but 70 feet could leave me on the pavement writhing in pain before I died. I would choose jumping from 500+ feet over SN but SN over 70 feet.

One user reported that falling from four stories was an instant, painless blackout. I'm also pretty sure each story for the parking garage I'm referring to is bigger than 10 feet.

Got it:

In patients with head and chest injuries, a 50% mortality rate was estimated to occur at falls from 10.5m, compared to 22.4m in those without injuries to head or chest.

50% mortality rate to uninjured jumpers, according to Dickinson et al.

7 stories is ~21m, so there's a 50% chance of an uninjured person surviving. I'm not comfortable with these odds.

What is the typical clearance for parking garage levels, I wonder? I will go look sometime, I know they have signs up...

I guess it depends on the country. From Google, I gather that it goes from 10ft to 12ft. Even assuming 12ft floors, seven stories is 25m. Not enough to change the statistics significantly. Of course it's up to the jumper to weigh the risks, I just want people to make an informed decision.

Personally, I'd avoid jumping from less than 12 floors.

Yeah, often I think that I would be one of the ones that did survive...shit, that's how I feel about every method now. Can't even kill myself right.

I know the feeling. I have N, and yet I still dread the possibility of surviving. I know it's paranoia, but....

I'd be awfully sad if I had N and survived. It is hard enough getting it...I'm beginning to wonder if we all don't just overthink ourselves into paranoia. I'm confident that you will find your peace though.

It's definitely paranoia in my case. N has an excellent track record. On the other hand, given the consequences for failure, it's healthy to be paranoid about suicide methods. It keeps us from making stupid and costly attempts.

Thanks for your prediction :)

This is the only place where you can thank someone after they wish you death :)

I am a person who made a costly and stupid mistake, so I can appreciate paranoia now...And yes, the only place where we can wish someone death and thank people for it. So good not to have pro-lifers shoving "don't do it" platitudes down your throat!
