Hey, this is the only rope I've got here, is it good for hanging?
If so, I'm gonna try hanging today

Make sure it's at least 1inch thick. Thinner the rope more pain you'll feel.

I wouldn't hang my coat on that thing, best to get a higher quality setup

10-20mm is recommended in all guides, an inch is thicker than that and might lack some of the flexibility I think.
How important is flexibility in hanging? I have an inch thick rope and thinking about full suspension.

Thickness of material matters more. The thicker the material the longer time it takes to go unconscious and you will stay there for a while suffocating.

I just bought a 6mm polypropylene rope yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what to think of this advice. I was under the impression partial hanging would take only 10 seconds anyway.

As long as the rope is strong enough to hold your weight there is no regulation or standard rope millimeter. The thinner it is faster to pass out (but can pinch and hurt the neck)and the thicker the longer to pass out.

Op is doing full suspension, hence the advice. 10 seconds is not the standard for every person. Different things factor on time
