I need the pain to stop. I can't kilo myself since I'm always around the kids. People around me pushing me to talk to psych (In 9 days). I'm doing everything I can no to ctb, but I'm struggling. Would cutting relieve the emotional stress? If I cut the same place each time would that work?

I'm sorry that you are in so much pain at the moment. Trying to mask your anguish and keep up appearances because there are children around must be extremely difficult. You really are trying your best to manage and stay safe and really, I commend you for that. It must be so hard. I won't lie to you and say that cutting won't bring some kind of relief - otherwise, those who cut and self-harm would not continue to do so - but please, do seriously ask yourself if cutting will really help.

Any relief that you may get from cutting is fleeting and the come down after that endorphin rush almost always leaves you feeling much worse than before you cut. There are other coping mechanism out there that you can use to deal with you distress that are not harmful. What sort of things do you enjoy? Do you know of anything that used to bring you comfort? Maybe you could go and take a brisk walk outside to deal with that restless feeling.

I promise that the feeling will pass if you let it. Please do be kind to yourself.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I play iPad games and snack a lot. Things that used to help aren't now. Sometimes I just want physical pain, but I understand it would be a short lived bandaid that would need to be redone a lot. I wish I could just end it.

I find it helps in the moment but then I feel bad after and having the scars is a reminder. I often bruise myself (hitting myself with a rolling pin over and over) as this doesn't scar and when I feel bad I can press on the bruises.. but have been known to boil the kettle and pour it on myself. Honestly.. I don't judge anyone that does it but if you can find other things to relieve the stress and pressure then that's always better. Self harm tends to spiral.. at least it did for me. Hope you find something other than this to make you feel a bit better x

Thank you for sharing your insight an experiences. You must have a high pain tolerance. Non scarring methods is a good suggestion, and I can see how it could become habitual. I've been controlling the urges thus far.

I'm sorry things are bad right now. I've been cutting off and on for 20 years. The last few months I've gotten bad and started cutting again. My upper thigh looks like an etching was done right now. Sometimes when I've had uncontrollable crying it has helped me stop crying. Just one or two good cuts. I do not go deep like others but it does leave scars.

I wouldn't say high no.. just in the moment it takes over.. wouldn't advise anyone to go down boiling water route. The itchiness when it heals was worse than the actual burn! :mmm: Glad you are controlling the urges :)
