I have loved horror movies ever since I was five years old. They always make me feel a little better for the time being. Does anyone else on here really enjoy them? I mean really really enjoy them? Like know some of them word for word and all the trivia? If anyone wants to talk about them tell me what your favorite one is.

I do. I love movie horror movies. My favorite is Scream. I know it's strange but I've watched them my whole life. Even as a small child. Horror movies don't scare me. Real life does.

I've been horror movie obsessed since I was a kid. They gave me that adrenaline rush that no other genre could. I always liked the old school special FX and trying to figure out how they were able to do them as well.

Unfortunately most newer horror has been a bit bland. Too many jump scares or rehashed ideas. I guess the same could be said with most genres when it comes to them running out of ideas though.

Yes! I absolutely love horror movies. It's unfortunate as most of my friends don't... I've always been searching for the one that will scare me shitless, but have yet to experience it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Please do let me know as I am a very nocturnal being and would love to spend the remaining time I have left watching some good movies!

It depends on what you find scary. I think it's different for most people. I love a mix of creepy and claustrophobic type horror and some zombies movies (though it has been done to death).
some of my favs:
Alien
The Thing
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Carrie
Scream + Scream 2
The Sixth Sense
The Others
Rec
The Descent
The Orphanage
Red Eye
Triangle
Orphan
What Lies Beneath
Insidious
Sinister
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Train to Busan

I love horror movies... but not simple slasher films... I need some thinking behind the horror. Possession and demonic films are my favorite but there aren't very many well done ones.

Love them

The Demon (1963, dir. Brunello Rondi)

hqdefault.jpg

features a possessed girl doing the spider walk a decade before The Exorcist. Set in rural Sicily, which still looks exactly like that.

Love funny horror movies (Warm Bodies, My Boyfriend's Back, the Nightmare on Elm street series) and tragic horror movies (The Orphanage* My God...)

*features parents grieving children

I really dislike watching slashers because the concept of being terrorized like that really unsettles me (eg. the phone call in Scream). That being said, some of them have memorable moments.

Has anyone seen A Tale of Two Sisters the Korean film? It's a psychological horror movie.

It's good. The best asian horror I've seen is The Wailing.

Few recommendations:
The Thing (1982)
Prince of Darkness (1987)
Insidious (2010)
Evil Dead (2013) - both the remake and the original movie are excellent
Don't Breathe (2016)
Candyman (1992)
The Descent (2005)
The Mist (2007)
30 Days of Night (2007)
1408 (2007)
The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Sinister (2012)
It Follows (2014)
The VVitch (2015)
Hereditary (2018)

For me, horror movies were a way of coping with reality.

The Wailing wasn't too bad.

Let the Right One In is also good

How? If they were an escape from reality but that's not the case anymore. Life is a horror movie

Yes, but the majority of them are really bad.

Take Hereditary for example..people hyped that up so much and it had like one scary scene for me

Hereditary was one of the best horror films I watched. Disregard this cuck above me, his epitome of horror is probably paranormal activity.

I love horrors, sadly I am the only one that does, as I don't sleep much now , I now have a working phone and headphones, I want to start searching netflix for decent horrors to watch, but so far they have all been naff!
Does anyone know any decent netflix horrors?
I have grown up with them, my mother did it in the hope of scaring me, but it ended up with the opposite result!

Nah not really, but immediately calling people names is always a sign of an intelligent person so I'll leave you to it.

I'm a huge horror fan too. Martyrs (french version) has got to be one of the best I've ever seen. Also the Exorcist is a classic. I watched it when I was 10 and it spawned my love of horror.

You're just like me! You love the of school slashers! God I love them so much. I want to be able to hang around to see the next Halloween coming out but I don't know if I'll be here.

We all have different tastes. It doesn't make someone not a horrible fan if they love slashers or whatever it may be.
