Discussion Does anyone else spend ages on a comment only to delete it?

I just feel like anything I say brings nothing to the conversation or wrecks the flow of the conversation others have moved onto within the thread. The chat's the same way. I mean I've spent like 15 minutes typing and retyping this bloody post for fuck's sake lol

I have this. When what I have to say doesn't meet my bizarre expectations of what I should say and the way it should look. A bunch of stupid, inefficient rules, really. Also feeling like I have an obligation to say something, usually when someone quoted or mentioned me. The urges are easier to resist when I'm aware of them, like right now. It's really a wonderful feeling of lightness, and going with the flow.

I literally just did this haha. I wrote a whole comment and everything. Then I highlighted it, copy, and deleted it lol. I got scared and then if I change my mind I won't have to rewrite it. Just paste and go.

I delete about 14 out of every 15 posts I compose. I use the review feature assiduously, and sometimes sleep on a post before looking at it again and deciding, "Nah!"

I do the exact same thing! Usually I end up re-reading my post around 10 times, only for it all to look out of place and unnatural. I can never tell if it's because nothing I wrote makes any sense, or if I'm just overthinking it. After stressing over it for a little while, I end up just sending it anyways. If it really seems like a useless post when I come back to it after a while, I'll probably just delete it, but most of the time I think it's just me overthinking what I'm saying lol. I hope being on these forums will give you the room you need to test out saying whatever you feel like saying, without worrying about these things. Hopefully it'll get easier soon. Yes, I've already spammed backspace and there's nothing wrong with caring about what you post. Thinking about posts is good. A lot of times tbh I think it might be that the flow of the conversation among other things is already wrecked and you're trying to work with vast limitations. It can be difficult to understand how and why you're received online because it is being received in a handful of different ways and for a handful of different reasons.
