I am 30 and have been suffering from poor memory over the past few years and its getting worse plus i do not dream in my sleep, its been years since I dreamt while sleeping. It has hampered me in my day to day work life and personal life. I am bi polar and depressed, anybody here facing memory loss and no dreams in your sleep issues?

I smoke a lot of weed which I think suppresses dreams, helps me sleep but if I don't smoke I get really vivid dreams. They often relate to how I feel in everyday life and become nightmares. I've gotten lucid dreams a lot from just not smoking, they're kinda fun. I get memory loss but think its mostly related to my alcohol use, if your not using these or any meds I dunno what else it could be. General stress maybe?

I am not on any meds, don't drink a ton of alcohol only socially, smoke ciggs on and off but not a chain smoker by any means and rarely smoke pot. I have always had shitty memory from childhood but as the years pass by it keeps getting worse. I dont know maybe its ADHD...not sure if thats linked with memory loss or not.

Yes, I have a loss of horrible memories. This started to happen when I started taking antipsychotics (risperidone) in my childhood. I am been free of antipsychotics for 7 months, managed to recover few memories, but I feel human again, can think clearly. However, I still have minor memory losses, and remembering my nightmares is not cool.

Maybe looking for a professional will help you?

Wish you peace and comfort

Im only 21 but it feels like I am mentally and physically 80. A mixture of mental illness and different medications has slowed my brain to the point of no return.

My dreams on the other hand, sometimes I remember them vividly and have a lot reoccurring ones. Other times I wake up and barely know where I am.

Sending love your way ❤

my shrink explained memory loss to me. apparently the part of your brain that stores memories is effected when you are depressed. but the good news is it comes back when you are feeling better. i know this from experience too - when i am not feeling depressed i remember things that i thought i had long forgotten. also, medication can stop you dreaming. so can smoking pot and alcohol. the good news is when you are free of those things the dreams come back too

My lack of dreams is sleep apnea. I don't get to REM, which is fantastic for me since most of my dreams have been nightmares for a while. I got diagnosed from a sleep study years ago and ran into issues getting a c-pap. by the time I finally got one I couldn't fall asleep with the machine hooked up.

They say memories get formed when your body is sleeping. So not sleeping means you're not creating memories. Not sure how true this is, but that's from the grapevine.

21 and I have really bad memory problems. You should look into different mental disorders. Just about all of mine cause memory problems so it's no wonder I remember nothing

22 here. Dreams are kinda ok. Wish they were cooler, but thats about it. But yeah, i also feel like my memory is getting much worse super fast (i never truly understood how people forget so much stuff, especially older folks, but now i think i will be at this point in just a few years)

If it's getting progressively worse, you may consider getting neurology referral for an mri.

Memory loss yes. I'm in late 20s and I attribute that to my benzo addiction and from taking huge amounts of antibhistamines for sleep. Loss of dreams no.. sadly I still have them...I hate dreaming so much because it makes me extremely suicidal to relive past trauma in a dream. Or if it's not a PTSD dream they are all weird and creepy. Dreaming is actually a factor in me wanting to ctb because even if I recover I'm still reminded of the trauma in dreams. And since it's frequently suggested no weed does not help or lessen the dreams it makes my anxiety and PTSD worse.

I haven't gone to a specialist or anything but I do think I have huge memory losses of my childhood. I barely remember anything from age 0-10. Most of the stuff I "remember" from that time is just reconstructed memories from what I've been told by my parents. I suffer from depression and anxiety which I have been diagnosed with by a professional. I heard depression can sometimes cause memory loss. I also have trouble remembering random stuff like if I run out of something and need to buy it then I have to write it down or I'll forget. I remember I used to have dreams but lately I don't wake up remembering them (probably for past 2-3 months)

That's interesting. Maybe a dissociative identity disorder then. There is a book called When Rabbit Howls by Truddi Chase that you can spend a little time reading about multi personalities which is a dissociative identity disorder. It may help you on your journey. I'm not diagnosing anything. Simply, giving personal tips of things to research for personal use.

I've found if I drink lots of chocolate milk before I sleep, I will dream.
