Maybe it's a cultural thing but the way they show funerals in movies seems like too much. Plot burials.... I don't know, just seems like thousands of dollars for what? I hope I'm not offending someone's religious views. If it's important to you, I respect that. I'm just wondering if I'm alone in thinking a funeral doesn't need to be more than cremation urn handed over and a small service, if that.

I couldn't imagine anything more than that, I mean... I'm dead right? Who really cares at that point, there'll be nothing left of me to care what happens to my body and I hate the idea of people going through all the drudgery of wasting a day at my funeral, that shit sucks

I don't want a funeral but I like the idea of being cremated and for my ashes to be in a bio-degradable urn that can be planted into a tree. Might as well try and save the planet while I'm at it.

I don't want a funeral because I don't see the point in them. Funerals are partly about remembering a deceased person, so it only makes sense if you are popular and well-liked, or someone really valuable like a pioneer... Which I'm not. There won't be many people around to remember me. Plus even if you are hugely popular a funeral is still pointless anyway since everyone will move on eventually. Even those that are famous are forgotten about given time.

When my brother ctb he left a note that simply said cremate me. He got his wish.

I absolutely hate the idea of a funeral. It's so much money on nothing. Expensive flowers that'll expire. A stupid box that costs THOUSANDS only to go in the ground. In some expensive ground no less. With an expensive rock on top. And an expensive venue rental that my real loved ones wouldn't get to go to, it'd just be all my dad's friends and my stepfamily all of which I hate and have always hated and judged me but they'd come pretend to know who I am and say a lot of inaccurate stuff about me... it'd be a slap to the face because my dad would never lift a finger or spend a dime to actually help me or listen to me or do anything for me while I'm here, no no that'd be me being lazy, but he'd insist on having some big money wasting performative garbage for my stepfamily and all his friends who, again, all those people always hated me and treated me like shit. I wanna leave a note saying don't do any of that but itd probably get ignored. Part of the reason I kinda wanna try to drown somewhere remote so I just go missing and am never found. But I know that probably wouldn't work.

i'd rather have no funeral at all. i'd rather they just cremate me and spread my ashes into the ocean or something along those lines. funerals are just a way for people to profit off of the dead.

The title of the thread made me think you were asking about really swanky funerals, with celebrities, caterers, a horse-drawn hearse, someone famous providing the music, stuff like that. I lived close to the Graceland Cemetary in Chicago, which is full of weird grand wealthy tombs. One tomb I admired a lot was built into a hillside and opened onto a little lake, so the dead could be ferried to it. That amused me.

I don't want a funeral or memorial service at all (& I wrote that in my will). My family are very spread out & a lot of them dislike/hate each other so I can't imagine any of them would really want one anyway
I stopped having birthday parties because of fear that no one would attend. Same goes for my funeral. So I don't like the thought of a funeral. I know it wouldn't matter when I'm dead because I wouldn't know (depending on what you believe of course). But the thought of even my family members and other people who I love just not turning up freaks me out so much (I have mega anxiety and abandonment issues haha). So yeah... no funeral for me.
