is it that strange to give people the right to choose starting from some age whether they wanna live?
i think that if humanity will be able to reverse aging, potentially streching the lifespan of human to hundreds of years people will finally relize that sometime people should have the right to choose their struggles
like i'm not even that sad, i just can't live in a world like this, it's too hard i even stopped taking my meds and talking to my therapist in order to feel my depression better and maybe have the guts but nothing works, i am too much of a coward, it's so strange that i was brought to this world without any consent and now i'm forced to live in it by it's rules, like you expecting me to work 9 to 5 or i'll be homeless just because i am here, and that without even mentioning that the world could go very bad like wars and stuff, and all of that for what? it's not like i'm gonna get a wife, my parents will kick me out of their house at some point (i'm 21) and even if i mange to numb the pain with stupid movies and shows or youtube, what's it all for?
and also if i try and fail my life will be so miserable i am afraid of only thinking about it, forced hospitalization, pushing the pain inside and having nothing to do with it

As long as a majority of mankind has religious beliefs, suicide won't be a human right any time soon.

they stole our right to die by making all guaranteed suicide methods into crimes . for example hiring someone to shoot me in the head, buying nembutal without a prescription, buying morphine , , purchase of sarco suicide pod they made all these and more into crimes.

imo their suicide prohibition state will get much worse in the future.

with ai and other technologies they'll be able to monitor and control every action, search, purchase, text, phone call , post, email etc.

try searching for suicide methods on evil google or ask ai and you'll get censorship and help lines etc. ai is getting more powerful

ai in 2023 could read 80,000 pages per minute . they can definitely scan all your activity and prohibit any thing they don't find acceptable . and they will never accept you even searching for suicide method info on the internet which will trigger a call to the police and internment into a mental hospital for "being a danger to yourself" or being "mentally ill in need of correcting thinking:"

for example i search nitrogen tank filled or Sn or suicide methods on the internet. the ai determines i'm suicidal because sn is used for suicide and my profile says i'm not a business using sn . so the ai calls the police which arrive to take me to the mental hospital.

especially on android phones evil google ai can see your screen and everything you do on your phone

existential goof said and i agree many atheists are also pro-life

the future seems even more horrible for these and more reasons.

i can't believe many humans want to prolong life for hundreds of years. if they are able to do that it will be a horror imo. they will force people to live hundreds of years then. some want their consciousness to be uploaded to a computer and exist forever : very horrible idea to me i would never want to live or exist another minute. i don't think uploading consciousness will be possible only a copy but still the idea that many want this i don't belong in this world.

i only want to avoid any unending constant unbearable pain while i'm alive and get to Non-existence forever asap

It's just so dreadful, cruel and terrible to me how it isn't and how instead we exist in this horrific anti-suicide world where the suffering and torture of existing is seen as to force and prolong no matter what, all I want is to be gone. I see so much cruelty in how it's a crime to not want to suffer so unnecessarily in this existence that was so tragically imposed just to die in agony tortured by old age and there's just so much suffering in existing with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, it needs to be a human right and it needs to change, all I want is to never suffer again, all that anti-suicide does is just cause so much harm and suffering.

I guess it depends whether you mean a (very) restricted access to assisted suicide. So- the terminally ill. Maybe eventually the chronically ill or those with long- term treatment resistant illness- physical and mental. I expect that will be introduced eventually.

But, allowing 18 year olds to opt out because they don't really like life? I doubt that will happen. It would require a massive shift in the maternal and paternal instinct to protect at all costs. There are multiple members here who haven't told their parents how they feel because they know they wouldn't accept it and they would probably restrict their freedoms even more.

I wish it would be introduced. I imagine that the knowledge that a young person could opt out of life as well as many actually doing it, would make would- be parents think harder about whether to bring children here in the first place. Would they make that financial and emotional investment if they realised their child had real freedom to choose?

Probably not until enough lawmakers understand the wish for non-existence, either personally, or some other way.

I hope suicide and human euthanasia will become a human right but considering how taboo this topic is and how brainwashed people are about life I highly doubt it will ever happen in our lifetime, or the next generations lifetime.

Not for everywhere in the world, but some places are making some decent strides on this as it already stands. I do think that in some fewer areas it'll probably happen sooner than later. But for the majority it will definitely take a lot longer. Those initial places will be the keystones for other locations to discuss and have individuals look towards pushing for.

Very few places in Europe have already made it a human right. I just wish it was more widespread, but that's probably never going to happen. At least not for an extremely long time.

I think it more likely to become restricted. Probably lose ground where it's been gained. When have leaders ever cared about our suffering?

Suicide will never be a human right, because capitalism will never allow for their slaves to "check out" whenever they want. Capitalism needs as much slaves as it can find so that they can feed the top 1%.

If somehow we evolve past capitalism and become more empathetic towards our fellow human being, then maybe suicide will become a human right.

Absolutely not and neither should it ever be.
Firstly it's unreasonable because human rights and the HDR are guided by the principle to protect the sanctity of life. To allow legal access to suicide is the opposite of this.
It's such a slippery slope, decriminalising and easy access to suicide leaves too many ways for it to be exploited and for non-elective suicides to take place.

I doubt it. On the other side, criminalizing it won't stop its occurrance - people will find a way to kill themselves with or without regulation, as suicide is an individual choice, even marked for mental problems and social influences.
