I guess most of you have no idea because I don't think many people mention their exact method to anyone.

But I think SN is definitely one of the most popular methods on SaSu and I've never heard of it outside the site.

Obviously the ones who are supposed to "save" people from suicide, should be better educated than average people.

Do you think they know it exists?

Medically trained people should know it exists but I can't say whether it's in their radar.

Highly doubt it. Yes medical science is aware of it but it's definitely nowhere near known by therapists or psychiatrists, it's still a very rare method unlike hanging which make up most attempts while sn is rather low even when it comes to death in contrast to other methods. I could be wrong but it isn't on the radar like other methods. That also really depends where in the world you are.

I have no idea who it was but I remember one person's statement after surviving SN that doctors actually googled what it is to find out how to treat them lol

I doubt it and I suspect they won't be too concerned with actual methods. Someone who is determined to CTB will do it with nothing more than a shoe lace.

Taking away means and methods is pointless and I bet medical staff know that.

Well I actually haven't thought about the fact that SN is legal and easily available in my country, which probably answers the question if they know about. I mean I believe if they knew it wouldn't be so easy to access, they would do something about it

You're right in a long term sense but when someone is in a suicidal crisis at the moment with SN ready to be swallowed, I guess taking it away could at least postpone the death and give them a chance to get "help" until the person in crisis finds another method.
I have to admit though, such circumstances don't seem too realistic

Same with me and where I'm from. The method isn't as well know as people think since some countries have had suicides from it while others have not had any so the coverage in media is different too. If it were a concern for the public to not let more people get their hands on it then it would've been banned.

I think they're clueless.

I went to a psychiatrist two months ago about my SI. He said : "Why are you here if you want to die ?" and he added "You can jump from 7th floor and in front of a train, it is very effective". He was supposed to be a specialist of suicidal crisis but his advises were so bad : that's why I believe they're clueless at best.

Woah hang on, did your psychiatrist suggest that you jump off the 7th floor if you want to die? Yeah he was absolutely terrible from the sounds of it.

But they are clueless, SN isn't a traditional method depicted in media like jumping or hanging or a gun. It's probably the last method anyone would expect to be effective enough to be rather deadly in comparison to those more common methods.

Absolutely glad you got away from someone like that. People like that should not be in that profession but unfortunately there's no shortage of people like that who will say insensitive things like that.

My psychiatrist found out that I had purchased SN. He, along with my nurse specialist, had never heard of it. He did do a Google search though and subsequently asked me if I had bought from KL, I replied honestly that I hadn't and had in fact sourced from Czechia.

I would be surprised, I think most of them are only familiar with traditional methods.

Because K-law became the search result for Sn-related ctb, that's the reason why he asked about it but that tells you, a lot of people in that field don't know about it

The people who are aware of the trend would be like a coroner and maybe morticians. Probably a few ED doctors but most would have never had to administer methylene blue for SN poisoning. It's not common but it's not uncommon nor unheard of.

Maybe in the countries where SN is illegal. In my country it's definitely not seen as ctb method. Hell, i once talked with a therapist who had no clue that nembutal is used for ctb

A therapist has no idea nembutal is, wow. They are either new at the job or don't have honest clients lol.
It might make sense maybe just for the fact it's not used anymore because it's freaking unavailable so 😂

My therapist, psychologist, GP, psychiatrist and the consultants in the ED knew nothing about SN. They had to call toxbase to find out how to treat me and kept calling it sodium nitrate.
