I'm sick of trying. I lost so much money and can't forget it. I just want to end this.

I wish suicide were easier. As much as I want to do it, I don't want to suffer. I don't know how, and I don't think I can do it easily where I live.

This is a hard question to answer, but in my opinion things may seem way worse while you're in a crisis compared to when you've gotten out of one. Speaking from personal experience i've witnessed people with a lot of debt that for them seemed like the end of the world but with enough time and work they've gotten themselves back onto their feet and really made it out, and after they've explained how they felt about the situation during the crisis and how it felt inescapable but after it had passed they realised that they had the power to change it around.

I'd say maybe. Obviously, money makes the world go round, but I'd personally sleep on it for a few months. See how you feel then. If you're still set on CTB then yeah go ahead

Good advice! Thank you.

I think that beyond my particular situation, I am a philosophical pessimist. Suffering can never be avoided, and it always outweighs enjoyment.

Yes, in my opinion, health is the first most valid reason for ctb and the second is wealth or rather the lack of them.

Maybe I'm wrong but health does need some level of wealth I think. I know it was far easier for me to be healthy when I was financially secure.

For me, financial ruin is a major reason but not the only reason that I want to ctb

I agree.

Also, @shun75x I don't know where you are but there is the bankruptcy system here in the US. It might not be what you want to do, but if it gets that weight off your shoulders and gives you a fresh start it would be worth looking into, at least. And just in case student loans are the problem, "common knowledge" is that student loans are not dischargeable but that is not true. I know, personally, a paralegal who got her student loans discharged by arguing before the Trustee that there was 1. No reasonable expectation that she would ever be able to repay the debt in her lifetime; and 2. That the imposition of monthly payments to the note holder, no matter how small, created an undue hardship on her ability to care for her child.

Also, student loans can be forgiven (without having to go through bankruptcy) if you become disabled and are eventually approved for Social Security disability benefits. I am not sure but it doesn't seem like it would be that much of a stretch to get them forgiven in other instances of disability, such as Worker's Compensation, etc.

Not sure if this helps you (or anyone else) but it is at least something to consider.

I think it is, but I am biased, because that's one of my primary reasons.

It's not just the student loan debt for me. It's the 9-5 work culture. I hate people. I hate myself. I don't want to work. I've tried nearly two dozen different jobs (working in a factory, doing landscaping, working for a party rental service, painting houses, detailing cars, got my degree and tried TEACHING ffs, worked at McDonald's, worked at Starbucks, worked as an English tutor, worked in an office, worked in construction—I could go on).

A job sucks the enjoyment out of life. It leaves one without enough time or energy even if you make enough money to afford doing things. That's simply a fact; all I can do with my time off is decrompress and dread going back to fucking work. I also have no friends to do anything with, partly because the few people I've met in my life who were worth a fuck have moved away and have their own lives. I don't mind doing things on my own, I often prefer it, but at the end of the day there's not much point for me if I don't occasionally have someone to share experiences and time with.

I'd put an ad in the paper saying "please give me a million dollars or else I will CTB" but then I'd have to go back to the mental ward, and that was a traumatizing experience. "Get help" they said. Just lol. There is no fucking help. Only hel. Hell.

It depends, in my opinion, if you're fucked beyond help like you're going to be poor forever, then sure, but if it's going to be temporary like a few years, then no.
