I use both as I often have other topics other than death and suicide itself. Also, there has been many interesting topics in the off-topic discussion board.

Damn I hate those laughing emojis, literally just people laughing at me for a stupid mistake and on a suicide forum nonetheless I fucking hate social media and I especially hate how those laughing smileys got introduced as a means of "liking" something, just another way to bully people and in this instant me..

We aren't laughing at you, it's the poll/question. It doesn't matter if you posted this on SS or Offtopic, one or the other wouldn't see anyways. It's still a good poll. As for the laughing smiley/emoji thing, they don't mean that much, they are just reactions to a post. We aren't bullying you. And I'd suggest if anyone laughs at you, laugh with them or tell them to screw off.

I have no one else to "talk" with. I teach some classes but that doesn't count because I'm just talking about data. And they all have to be there (department requirement) or want a letter of rec from me later. No real exchanges. SS is the only place I talk about anything other than work. I open it up even when I get a break at work just to scroll & read & share. To feel like I'm actually a person and not just a rotting lump of meat. I feel guilty admitting this.
