Discussion Do you know anyone who killed themselves due to work related issues?

I know one person from my former high school that have suicided. One of them came from a very strict Indian background. Parents pushed him to success. He was actually very intelligent and graduated at 16. Started working in accounting two years ago but then heard from a friend that he texted him saying he'd kill himself saying the work was too hard.

I also know one teacher that was laid off in my school and offed herself.

Also Doctors and lawyers have relatively high suicide rates than the rest of the population

There was a member here, who said she would be ok if she was rich and don't have to work maybe. I think it wasn't just that she had to work it was that she had to work at the job she couldn't stand but I can't be sure about that. I just think maybe if she could make money doing something she's passionate about it would feel like "work" and it wouldn't be killing her inside. It kills me too. She said in her last posts that she's never going to her job again and she drank SN.

Having to work for a living a job that I hate is a big deciding factor for me too.

Work is not the sole drive of my suicidal tendency, but my incompetency and anxiety makes it hard to do well at the jobs I've taken. It's an irony because currently I'm working where the industry is within my interest.

That's the reason I want go, I fail spectacularly at being working member of society. Literally thats pretty much the only reason, I have other issues but they're not nearly as big of a deal (to me)

Working for a company where literally everyone is trying to stab you in the back to make themselves look good is very very hard to cope with.
I put my mental health first and took 2 weeks off... first time in 6 years I had a day off sick.... and came back to a shit storm of punishment and bitching and backstabbing from my so called colleagues. I chose to leave the job.

According to my father years ago, during the financial crisis of 2007-2008, there was a neighbor around my parents' house who offed-himself because he got laid off multiple times and when he did finally secure a job, that offer was rescinded as the company had to downsize. If I remember, it was during late 2008 or 2009 in which my neighbor offed himself as there were lots of police cruisers on my neighborhood block and they were coming in and out of the deceased's home. I remember the street I was on was pretty much blocked off and no one can leave until the police cruisers were gone (which was more than 12 hours that day).

I'm fairly certain that my job will either be the end of me or I'll go running off into the woods. With 35 million+ out of work, I should feel grateful, but I've been so burnt out and stressed these last few months. I've had what I would consider as 4 extremely close calls where it's just a trigger squeeze away from putting a bullet in my head.

Might be me one of these days. Workplace bullying. Toxic environment. Harassment (from the head of HR no less). I have a deep resentment against the place. If coming back as a vengeful ghost were possible, I'd haunt them.
