Everyone tells me to hold a tarantula or something and I will get over it, if only it was that simple. I'm so scared of them, if there has been one in my room I won't even sleep in there for days after. Any other bugs though, moths, anything like that I'm fine with. Just spiders I can't tolerate.
I used to be terrified of Tarantula and spiders too. One day I saw this lady on the internet whose pet Tarantula had its own Facebook page. It looked really cute sitting in her hand. I got really curious and started researching Tarantulas. Next day I went to my local pet shop and held my first Tarantula. I was really scared, but did hold him for 2 minutes. I fell in love with this Tarantula! I went home and researched Tarantula for 6 weeks straight. Then went back and bought the Tarantula. I now collect Tarantulas and other bugs. It's a primal fear we have over anything that could bite and envenomate us. It's ok to be scared! There is a saying that helped me get over my fears of spiders and Scorpions...... " beauty lies on the other side of fear" and for me personally, that's true. However be discerning.....some species of spiders are highly venomous to humans, also some scorpions! Don't just handle any old spider! Consult an expert and do your research! A Tarantula would be a good place to start!
Tarantulas are not true spiders! They are Mygolamorphs! True spiders are more primitive! Tarantula are still primitive though. Millions of years old. Prehistoric! True spiders like the Brazil wandering spider are not spiders to be handled in any way, shape or form! So if you want to get over your fear of spiders.....consult an expert in the field and most importantly, do research. I cannot stipulate this enough! I'm not saying hold a Tarantula or anything like that! Only do it if you are ready! I wish you all the best!
P.s forgot add that these Tarantula have saved me from some really dark moments in my life! They saved me!I owe these beautiful animals my life!
I'm not afraid of any of those, but I'm terrified of Asian beetles (they're like ladybugs, but they're not and they can bite).
Like Spiny Assassin beetles! I think they bite!
