Now that I'm a certified NEET I have TONS of time on my hands to do art and shit.

And in the past three months I have done absolutely FUCK ALL. Everytime I sit down to work on my art I just get depressed and suicidal. Since I'm working on comic stuff right now, I need to actually use my brain to think about stuff. Stuff NOT related to the sweet relief of death.

Anyway having methods for concentrating on work and creative garbage instead of suicide?

(Probably a dumb thread. Things are never that easy)

Maybe set a timer and try focusing on stuff for 5-10 mins and after the alarm goes off go back to being "unproductive". Do so until you get used to it and then up the time by 5-10 mins. Idk, it's just something I came up with off the top of my head rn.

Honestly I'm not productive either. I'm making websites but most of the time I'm waiting MONTHS for an inspiration. Then I can start doing what I want.

I don't like forcing myself to grind tasks. It's better when urge to create something comes naturally.

I don't have any experience outside of urgent demands, but I think forcing yourself to create something won't help.
While you need to concentrate on your work to not slack off everyday, creativity cannot be forced and needs time.

Maybe focus on practicing your skills rather than try to create something. Just drawing things out of your head, something that has to do with death. That will be enough to practice.

don't really have any advice but I'm in the same situation. I draw like 4-6 h max on a good day. I feel insane for nor being able to focus much on it while feeling dreadfully lonely lol

Why must thus be the truth? Unfortunately (or fortunately, deoending on your perspective) I'm not a doom and gloom artist. I draw very silly/whimsical/ funny things. The closest I get to something depressing is gore. And even then, it's very cartoony comedic ""gore.""

I mind as well do studies. I've been seriously slacking on that shit.

4-6 hours is pretty good though. Especially if you're working on one piece. I read somewhere you shouldn't work on one piece for too long. I've been meaning to implement that advice into my work flow but I tend to get hyper focused when I DO work.

Moderation is hard as shit

:))) thats the thing tho, it's only on the good days. i don't have that many good days.
Though that said, other than the occasional doom gloom i got when i work in retail, trying to get better to do it more consistently.. I am not officially diagnosed with ADHD but some of the symptoms are familiar in a way. There's huge amount of wall to start doing something every time, it's nuts

personally I'm just not in that level of artist that spends 15-40 hours on a piece, so yeah..

anyhow idk what kind of thing you're into, but good luck ^^

Art can be really strong on your emotions, any kind of art so it's normal to be overwhelmed.
This may sound dumb to you but starting your day with meditation is a good way to learn concentration, maybe do a 10-20 minutes session either when waking up or before working.
Merging your emotions with art could be an idea too, art therapy is a thing for adults too and there are lots of books on learning it (I particularly advice C. Jung).
Despite what you may think doing only one thing won't facilitate focusing on it, doing more things in a day tho helps you keep your brain awake and focused so go out for walks, work out (I know it's corny, lol), maybe do some side activities, if you like art you could schedule your day to do anatomy study before working on your project.
In the end don't be discouraged, focus takes time, especially with art, go with small steps.

There is something called Eat the Frog which means that you complete the most difficult task of the day first which makes the rest of the day easy.

Meetapple has a good suggestion. If you get a creative idea, you can break it down into a series of tasks. Each tasck can be evaluated as to how enjoyable it is. Doing the less enjoyable steps first can help you accelerate towards completion finding each successive step more enjoyable.

Essential oil blend mixed for focus, put under your nose. Works for me at work for about 4 hours with one application. Espressos. Orange scents are energizing. Hang off your bed with your head upside down and let the blood flow to your brain for ten minutes. Stand and do power/confidence pose. Wear clothes that make you feel professional/serious. Put on noise cancelling headphones/earbuds and keep playing music until you find something that feels focusing and you feel like getting to work.

Some things to try out. Let me know if anything worked out.

Consider meditation. I'm unsure how it is in terms of productivity, but it can be a tool to inspire if you go deep enough.

Oh, you beat me to the meditation. And said it better than what I could've…
