What would being a "normie" imply?
definition is flexibly used by many in a pejorative sense, but typically it refers to an individual with mainstream interests and conventional views, adopted for the sake of fitting in, or else from being conditioned to abide by them. mind you that holding one unconventional view (such as the pro-choice position on suicide) doesn't immediately disqualify you from the potential application of the term

A normie is definitely not another person who probably has problems of they're own, a normie is a soulless, mindless automaton who must be sociopathically comsidered to be less than human and accordingly despised. You can spot a normie by the way they haven't self-diagnosed themselves with a neurodevelopment disorder and therefore have no claim to any kind of special status when interacting on the internet.

I'm worried I might be. I eat, sleep and piss like everyone else so I often feel like I'm in danger of becoming one. Only by way of a hug emoji on this post will I possibly feel like I'm a weirdo and not like the rest of society. Thank you in advance.

Oh fuck yeah. I mean, I'm neurodivergent and nerdy and have spent hundreds of hours online talking about suicide and depression, but I have a job and pay my own bills, so I'm a gross oversocialized normie sheep.

I'm a normie in some ways but it doesn't change the fact that I'm a 30 year old virgin incel who's never even so much as been on a date.

Damn right, calling people a normie is just a t-shirt fad for hipsters these days. I was recently called a normie by someone who *lives separately from their parents*, I'm like, mate, I'm calling pot/kettle on that one

No, I'm not a normie. I analyse and observe life for what it is instead of surviving in autopilot and following society's programming

First off, most people observe and analyze life for what it is. You aren't special and quirky for doing that. What is life for someone is subjective and depends on how they choose to interpret those observations.

Secondly, people follow "society's programming" because they don't have any other options. Most people don't have the luxury of being a neet and just mooching off their parents. Some people actually have no choice but to partake in things they don't like in order to avoid starving on the streets. Hell, you literally depend on those very same people since your livelihood depends on your parents having an income to support you.

This is exactly what I mean when I say that "normie" is just a word used by people who are full of themselves. It's a meaningless term that's thrown around by people who can't even bother to try and think more deeply about the world around them, instead opting to insult others because they believe that they are better than them.

No but I imagine other 'normies' think I am. As in- you can't be struggling that much. You have a job, you haven't entirely fallen apart. People seem to think you're ok if you appear to be. I suppose I comply to a bunch of 'normie' standards in order to fit in. Maybe that is classic 'normie' though. But no, being around what I'd consider more 'normal' people makes me realise how different my outlook is.

normie is the same as 'npc'. if you unironically use it as a term to view the world around you, you need to be more concerned with npd

Well, let me just add that for me disability (with what you have described as its result) is no luxury.

The animosity kills nuance.
Well, I wanted to bring it back especially some vocal people dictate the conception of that lifestyle here.

I don't deserve hostility nor does my post merit it in any way. Too bad our being on good terms so far couldn't grant me more grace. The topic/theme of the thread itself is relevant to me and my addition was valid and legitimate and in line with your message of critical analysis.

I'm not trying to he hostile and I'm sorry if my reply comes off that way. The point is that the message was directed as a specific person who has shows a a certain pattern when it comes to commenting. The statement wasn't meant to he interpreted as a broad statement applying to everyone but rather as a comment specifically made towards them.
