They can definitely boost your mood and energy. If they do for you, try getting off them after you've had a chance to feel better. I was on them 30 years and it became harmful and addictive. Might as well try it.

everyone reacts differently to them.
Exactly - everyone reacts differently to meds, so sometimes it takes multiple tries to get the one that works for you. Then, you have to get the dosage right.

Over my life, I've tried probably a dozen different meds. I've finally found one that works for me (fluoxetine, aka Prozac).

It's not necessarily a simple or easy process, but it can absolutely be worth it.

1. Sertraline - one of the strongest SSRIs and the first one I've gotten. Gained ~17 kgs bcz of it, stronger suicidal thoughts
2. Risperidone - taken during the sertraline episode. Extremely sleepy all the time, felt like an emotional vegetable.
3. Venlafaxine - didn't do shit except for lowering my sex drive
4. Don't remember the name but it made me cut myself for the first time in my life
5. Duloxetine - extreme sweating and being useless for the fifth time in a row.

They usually more or less reduce sexual desire and pleasure, and often permanently damage or destroy them.

Some do some don't it all depends on what receptors are causing the issue in the first place.

Give them a try before you ctb. No harm trying them. Your life could change fir the better. Personally I've tried over 20 and none worked. Everyone is different though. Good luck.

Everyone is different but for me just complete and utter exhaustion with every one I have tried, and coming off them is very, very difficult. Try one for a few weeks, come off them if they do not work, but do not let yourself get addicted because it is the worst. You may as well get addicted to one that works. And in case have a supply. You will not get any help from your doctor for addiction to them. You have to be ahead of it, so if you have taken them for a month, have a month spare, lying to your doctor, because they will not accept it is so bad. Not everyone goes through this, it is just my own experience.

They can help. Yes.
Prozac is one of the first line ADs prescribed and helped me in the beginning. For a few years I was functioning and able to lead a more or less normal life.

Give it a try. You have nothing to lose. ❤️

it depends on the person but they could help. for me i used to be on fluoxetine and i'm currently on venlafaxine (as well as mood stabilizers) and both worked for a while before they had to increase the dose because they stopped working. the side effects are a little annoying in some but they're worth a try.

If it can make you feel better and not want to ctb then it might be worth a go, you should at least try it. I dont know your situation but if you have a job, bills or a lot of responsibilities then depression can get in the way and stop you fulfilling these things. They are not a magical band aid, depends how your body responds to them. They act like a crutch but you still have to do the work. Good luck.

I'm taking relatively mild ones - which make me a bit calmer

They can't solve my problems - which I know make me the way I am - but they can mask it a bit

Stronger ones do more but from what I know from people who have them is you feel a bit zombie - in a daze - not worried on anything

Which is better than depression but not great for holding down a job

Like others have said, they don't do anything for me. I have tried lots.
But they may work for you.

I'm on 1) on your list

Not sure whether they're working or not - sometimes seem to help

Sounds like Prozac is better
