  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

just had another group session today in iop and the staff changed my group AGAIN which left me frustrated and disappointed. i had this nice group full of 11 people that had such great chemistry and we were able to discuss our relationship problems and breakups but now im in a new group with like only 4-5 people in it and no one says anything!! the therapists suck too!! now im uncomfortable and confused!

now i have to wait another week to speak to my individual therapist to help me regroup again

UGHHHHHHHHHH I JUST WANNA HEAL

If you get stuck in a group from which you will not be able to gain something for yourself, you might try to use the time to draw someone else out and see if you can help them. In this way you can perhaps limit the frustration.

I've tried that before, but they haven't been very communicative/responsive to what I had to say really. I'm trying to ask the facilitators to move me back into the other group because most of the girls there had relationship problems like myself and it was very talkative and supportive.

I am stuck for literally two hours with the same therapist who just repeats herself and makes us watch dumb 10-minute videos or makes us decipher inspirational quotes that don't really make sense. Whenever I talk about my family issues in the sessions, no one relates or says anything helpful. The vibe is completely off, as if no one wants to get to know each other.

Then she wanted to spend the second hour discussing COVID, and I was like "Wtf???" because that happened 5 years ago and doesn't affect me anymore and I'm honestly just sick of hearing about COVID daily when I have other issues that are bothering me now.

Oh boy, it wasn't the traumatic breakup, or the family arguments, or getting blocked/ghosted by friends that was making me depressed!! it was the damn COVID!! wow, how didn't I get this before?! (sarcasm)

Yeah. I am not a fan of therapy -- especially group therapy. Maybe it's because I don't ... Hmmmm ... I dunno. Just not for me. I can't be the only one who feels that way. Can I?

Haven't been able to try group therapy, but I've tried many therapists and currently in the process of talking with a new one. I likewise am not a fan and they only seem to gaslight me and make me way more suicidal every time, not to mention misconstruing what I am talking about and misunderstanding me, or being too dumb to actually help me if I put my psychology education into use.

Exactly. That has been my experience in every single session I've sat through. It's infuriating.

I feel your pain. I hated group therapy the few times I tried it again over the years. I just see an individual therapist now. My big issue with group therapy was always certain people would hog up the time then when it came to my turn I get like 5 minutes to speak and the session would be over. It was like that every time so for me it was like why am I even here. Im paying all this money for me to speak for five minutes.

I was in IOP as a teen and the group therapy back then sucked too. The other teens were vile to myself and each other and the therapists were useless at running it. Truly out of control and a big mess.

So yeah I feel your pain and hope you're able to get a better group.

Wow that's frustrating. I hope you get a better one or maybe as people get more comfortable things will get a little better?

I hated group therapy during my treatment, but there just wasn't anyone there I really "clicked" with so to speak
