Discussion Did your parents/teachers condemn selfishness as a kid?

I'm always perplexed why people care if suicide is selfish (I personally don't think it is). Were they taught as a kid that selfishness was bad or just learned it from interacting with others? People seem to thoroughly despise selfishness.

It's their ignorance speaking loudly that screams they're misunderstanding for the pain of others. It's something that's been almost "passed down" and embedded into everyone's mind. God forbid someone discusses suicidal thoughts. Take cover!

I find it interesting that suicide is as taboo to discuss as sex or even pedophilia.
