Discussion Did the cops ever show up?

Did the cops ever show up, because of your suicidal tendencies? Or were you never in a psychiatric hospital? If yes how did the cops treat you? Did they treat you badly, like a dangerous criminal? Or did they treat you good? Did you want to die even more? Or did the hospitlization actually improve your life?

When I was called out to jobs as a paramedic that involved suicidal people by the police as backup, they were always kind - if a little bored. I'd be interested to hear how people in other countries have experienced this though?

I've talked to the Dutch suicide hotline a couple times. I was quite clear that I was on the edge of attempting but they never sent any cops to my adress, even though I wasn't using a VPN.

A month ago I was hospitalized by my current psychiatrist/psychologist though, and looking back the only thing I got from it is two new friends, but mentally I'm still a wreck. The hospitalization was a two-week crisis-admission, but I'm still in crisis lol.

Cops where always good to me an talking not once did they treat me like criminal. They just wanted to help an make sure I was safe that was pretty much it. The rest was hospital if anything it was the doctors that treated me like a criminal lol

I was treated kindly by a couple of cops who came to see me when word got around that I was at a crisis point. They seemed a bit embarrassed about why they were there and we ended up talking about dogs.

It has occurred to me that suicide rates in the police are statistically high, and perhaps this is why most of them are generally sympathetic.

Someone sent the cops to my house after I apparently was saying that I need to put a bullet in my head, which I don't remember saying because I was drunk as shit at my cousin's wedding. The cops were really nice and caring surprisingly.

Oh and yes, I wanted to die right then and there. They were asking me if I was suicidal and all that, and of course I lied to them to avoid being hauled away.

I find the cops so much kinder and understanding then the medical side of things. They can be harsh if they need to be (IE when a short ass suicidal drunk women decides to take on 5 beefy tall ass cops) but over my dealings with them, they have been fantastic

Yup, like someone above said, I think cops understand the suicide aspect a little bit more because of the high rate amongst current and retired police. Same with military and ex-military.

Everybody was always super nice to me and mainly just asked why I did it. If anything it made me feel worse because they seemed genuinely concerned. As for hospitals, 2 of them were nice while one was not so much. Either way, it didn't help me, but I know it does help a lot of people.

Don't doctors and especially psychiatrist have an increased rate too?

All of them were really nice, but it just made me feel really guilty. I just kept apologising for wasting their time.

The police have always been absolutely amazing with me. Prior to me jumping off the bridge I tried twice before but each time I got grabbed and 136'd by them and taken to hospital. They treated me with so much respect. However the third time I actually mananged to keep everyone away long enough to jump and those poor officers and paramedics had to witness it and then go through being investigator about it and made to watch the footage etc. One of the officers however has remained in close contact with me and his support is what's keeping me going at the moment. He brought me chocolate and Fanta yesterday when he came and visited me in hospital.

Yeah, I've been incredibly luck with the ones I've encountered. Partially because I had met several of them through my work so they knew more me than just a suicidal girl.
