You have to accept there's no privacy any more in this shit world. As a collective us dumb stupid ignorant allow it continue by using their toys they throw us. We gave our power away and now sufferibg for it so bad that life is so petty theres even big market for suicidal people data.

Youd like to think they'd at least get us a good fucking deal on rope but no as usual they con us by showing us a bargain of rope then after we've bought it they send us a article saying "it's impossible to die from such and such mm rope," to get get us to buy more.

The best lines I've found when I was looking specifically into sharing data with police.

415-781-0500
"We have called the police to intervene, but it is a very rare last resort that is discouraged as common protocol. We will only call the police if a person indicates they have intent to use a lethal plan they have access to within the next 24 hours, and after an extended period of dialogue still seem intent on attempting. We can only send services to people about whom we have enough information, usually address but in some occasions a phone number alone will suffice."

+1 877-565-8860 - for transgender people

"We have been divested from the police since our founding."

One of the most disgusting things I've read in a long time. Much, much worse than anything that has ever been written in this forum.
Doesn't politico pro (unlock the paywall) cost like several thousands bucks a year? If there are archives to get it free they are pretty much fucked

This is such a perfect encapsulation of so many things wrong with our current society it's almost funny. Of course, nothing is safe from the aggressive data harvesting of big tech and related entities. We are nothing more than a set of statistics and key words and a way to line some CEOs pocket, no one really cares. There's a reason so many tech start up are trying to outsource therapy and counseling to robots (""AI""). As if the canned responses from the regular suicide hotlines couldn't get any worse.

"We know that if you text the words 'numbs' and 'sleeve,' there's a 99 percent match for cutting," the nonprofit's co-founder and former CEO, Nancy Lublin, said in a 2015 TED talk. "We know that if you text in the words 'mg' and 'rubber band,' there's a 99 percent match for substance abuse. And we know that if you text in 'sex,' 'oral' and 'Mormon,' you're questioning if you're gay."

This is creepy.

That has to be one of the most unethical things I've ever seen. Monetising a person's lowest moments...

I was thinking about this thread today as I was in crisis last night but to afraid to text the normal number. They claim they have stopped sharing data. I will continue to use alternate crisis lines becuase the fact that they did this in the first place was disgusting and honestly, I don't trust them to not do it again.

"We understand that you don't want Crisis Text Line to share any data with Loris, even though the data is handled securely, anonymized and scrubbed of personally identifiable information," This statement came off to me as really defensive, like they still don't see the problem with what is happening and they're just annoyed at the backlash they're getting. Truly shows that they don't care about the data sharing and they're just trying to keep a good rep.

They say they can't trace the information back to specific people but the article states it is possible. I can no longer tell what the crisis text line representatives are lying about anymore.

The mental health system as a whole doesn't have my trust- which hurts quite a bit considering I want and need help. I'll do my research before I ever trust anyone claiming they do their work to be helpful.

Say what you like about us here in Europe, but we have some serious Data Protection laws. People would be going to prison here...
