helllo all, i've come to ask a question about anyone elses experience with diazepam, or valium, whatever you know it as. I tried it out earlier today, about 10mg, to see how it felt and also to test it.

It didn't set in until about 20 - 30 minutes after i took it, the side effects were a bit strong for me, i felt very dizzy during the process and my movements were lazy too, after i felt more in control, i just felt tired. I didn't feel anxious during the process until it started to kick in, then i felt very calm.

Is this normal for anyone else whos taken this before ? i know I can just look this stuff up online but i'd rather chat with regular people about it, any answer would be grateful !

I had to take an MRI as a teenager and had to go all the way inside the machine, but due to claustrophobia, I just wasn't able to. Got sent to the doctor and prescribed 3 valium pills, told to take it before going to MRI the next week. Took one and a half pills, didn't notice any difference, some hour later I take the rest of the pills, still did not feel any different. I spent about 6 hours waiting for anything to happen but nothing did, my family was weirded out because they said I should have fallen asleep or at least felt very tierd, but I didn't notice any difference to my emotions, mental state, body or my awakeness. Went into the MRI machine a couple hours after taking the pills, but I was still freaking out and panicking due to claustrophobia. This is the only time I've taken valium.

ahh wow, thats kindof interesting, i know some people have a higher tolerance to medication than others, i wonder if thats the same case with you ? or maybe the tolerance was so high that it just didnt do anything for you, hope that time doesnt bring up bad memories now :(

They gave me that in the psych ward to help relax me for sleep - it had the opposite effect so I stopped trying it and they were fine with it.

That sounds about right for benzos. I'm confused though, are you planning to ctb with benzos? That won't work at all. Not even close 🤗🌹💔

Benzos are the worst thing ever. I will take them when I ctb but other than that, while they make me more chill, they also make me more crazy. Also withdrawal from them is awful. Much worse than alcohol imo

I have tried valium and I barely felt it 🥲

I took about 20mg and just felt a very very subtle calmness. No dizziness or anything else. Barely worked anyway, not my favourite

As a long term benzo user for anxiety which impacts on sleep to the point of insomnia I take (xanax & or, diazepam or both, mixed with alcohol for extra effect) - benzos have helped a bit but...... they never work like the first time you take them. Hence why they are only prescribed as a very short term solution. If you are planning on taking them to ctb they really arent all that. Or, I fit into that category of ppl that these things & sleeping pills dont actually have much effect. Everyones physiology is different.

The first time I tried benzos was street Xanax two pills of 0.5mg each. It made me completely drowsy and feeling heavy I could barely walk. It basically felt like I was walking in a pool of water, having to exert more force to just walk. But it barely did anything for my anxiety. I just wanted to sleep.

Same with street clonazepam. Good for insomnia though.

I've also tried Oxazepam from the doctor, it barely did anything at all, at least not in the doses they gave, but in high dose I'm sure it would be the same as the street benzos.

The only time I could feel benzos reducing anxiety was when I had crazy anxiety during opioid withdrawal cold turkey. A few Oxazepam calmed me a little for a few hours.

So in conclusion, benzos make me drowsy, slow, sleepy and feeling heavy tired but barely reduce anxiety.

What calms my regular anxiety is alcohol and/or opioids, but unfortunately the SN method is not compatible with those.

Soo truee 😭 the first time I took them I was floating and since then I cannot recreate the feeling. I mix them with alcohol too in an effort to get that effect but it's a sliver of what I felt that first time

"It basically felt like I was walking in a pool of water, having to exert more force to just walk. But it barely did anything for my anxiety. I just wanted to sleep"... I'm well jelous, had been taking 2mg xanax, 1mg=5mg diazepam (obvs xanax is faster acting but less half life than diazepam) im taking about 15mg diazepam now with alcohol and get around 2 - 4 hours sleep. Without, I get nothing - as evidenced by fitbit which i know isnt 100% reliable but good indicator of rem and deep sleep.

Anyway as a CTB method dont bother with benzos unless first time taking them when doing ctb.

Dude, alcohol destroys sleep, especially REM sleep. I used alcohol to sleep also, but it did the opposite in the long run. After alcohol detox, my sleep got better. But I was given Seroquel low dose and then later now Mirtazapine for sleep and it helped, but only after I cut out alcohol entirely. Also, I use benzos very rarely, I do not wanna mess with dependence on those after trying opioid and alcohol withdrawals cold turkey. And yeah benzos alone for ctb are useless.

Yeah... I know alcohol is bad but... job is stressfull and alcohol really does, temp relieve stress & amplify the benzo effect. Tried mirt for 3 days, omg turned me into a zombie - its still banned in the us for teens, as a side effect is suicide ideation & multiple suicides while on it & eventually it blows your dopamine receptor meaning you get pleasure from nothing.
The lawsuit website is still open where the pharma company were sued.

Here In the UK its prescribed like sweets if you're an adult.

Almost all antidepressants have suicidal ideation listed as a side effect, but it's usually only a temporary effect if at all. They list it to cover their asses in case someone overdoses or attempts, not because it is such a huge risk. All antidepressants I've tried have not increased my wish to commit suicide (but also not cured me obviously). The zombie effect usually goes away after a week. Also, alcohol does the same to dopamine, sleep, liver, suicidal ideation and attempts, increase in violent behavior and much much more and worse. The only attempts I had was while drunk, not while on any pills. Don't get me wrong, I don't think antidepressants (of all classes) really do much good for depression either, and I love and crave alcohol every day, but the EASY long term damage it does fast is not worth the risk. If you use it for sleep and to relieve stress, you are at high risk of eventually ending up like me where I drank almost a litre of vodka every day. I started also with just a few drinks before bed time... But if you can control it and it really helps you, I totally envy you, to be honest. Even better are opioids, lol. Now THAT truly cures both insomnia, depression and anxiety all in one and with much less liver damage than alcohol as well as no smell. But I ran out of money because they are really popular in the streets where I am, and tolerance builds fast. Withdrawals are total literal hell, I take alcohol withdrawal over opioid withdrawal any day, so I warn about opioids.

Edit: I looked at the website you linked, and a quick read already makes it look uninformed: they list Remeron as an SSRI, but it's not a typical SSRI. Studies have shown mirtazapine to have less side effects as first-line antidepressants such as Sertraline and Duloxetine. Also, my blood work show normal liver enzymes after 4 months on mirtazapine, compared to blood tests when I was drinking every day for months.

I have good impulse control so , Im literally doing 2 beers a night. I also work in MH.
That site was just a quick search, if you look deeper mirt does not do less damage than alcohol in the quantities im taking and you're suggesting - 1 bottle of vodka - I know i would self harm at that lvl.
After only 3 days on mirt i couldnt coordinate properly , I could feel as many others have said across multiple forums your soul being taken. it overpowers you totally. This is not on the same lvl as prozac which although crap does not do this to you - however u always have to factor in differenet ppls physiology makes such a difference. Most recent research shows even if u r of asian descent, you metabolise some meds slower meaning they stay in your system longer and have longer half life.

I agree with you on the meds , suicide ideation causality... but disagree on mirt - that stuff should be banned.

I only took it for severe anxiety after I ended up in a ward but it was an okay experience. For me, I felt like this too on the first day but I got used to it shortly after. If the effect keeps up I'd recommend taking 5mg twice a day instead

i dont think you can ctb on benzos alone no, stan suggested to use it alongside SN in his guide which is what im following, however if you can deal with whatever anxiety you feel during that process then you wouldn't need it, though i think thats rare

As I said, that feeling went away after a week for me. But as someone who overthinks and struggled to fall asleep, the drowsiness was a welcomed effect. But anyway, I might try new meds after my appointment with psychiatrist next week because after 4 months on mirt it feels like it's doing nothing, certainly not for my depression and anxiety. I only take their meds so I can say I tried everything, lol. I don't have much faith in any antidepressants or treatments at all.

No, ctb by benzos alone is not recommended. Very unreliable.

In the past they prescribed barbiturates to help people sleep. Those things were deadly and so they were replaced by benzos.
