Decided I'm going to douse myself with petrol, and set myself on fire: Need advice regarding logistics

So it's been almost two weeks without medication (poison) and the excitement is beginning to build.

The fog/blur is fading, and I know this is the right thing to do.

I just need a bit of help with regards to logistics.

Here's what I've decided thus far:

1: I'll not douse my head in petrol, as I could be blinded long enough for a do-gooder to intervene before I ignite myself.

2: I've decided on my location. It's going to be public and fucking bold, but in a way where no-one else can get hurt. I want it to be public, because I want my story of being perpetually failed by the mental health "service" to go viral. I'm sure a fella setting himself on fire, following a torrent of suicide attempts, would get the attention of the press.

3: I'll buy the can, petrol and lighter just before I do it, so there's not much in the way of prep needed.

4: I'll listen to my suicide playlist to really gee myself up at the last moment, before going ahead. This, along with no medication to hold me back, should be enough to do this.

Question: Police will get involved ... do you think a taser could ignite petrol? If not, do you think that's something they'd consider to stop me?

With regards to going ahead with this method, can anyone think of anything else I need to think about, in order to succeed?

Please don't do this. Not only for your well being but also for other people's well being as well. Seeing someone burn to death is bound to cause those who see ptsd and maybe even end up here.

Society as a whole does not care about the suffering of one person no matter how horrific their ctb method is. Hell they'd probably all be happy if you survived with life changing injuries because in their mind life>death no matter how shitty that life is.

You'll be covered in horrific scars which will most likely make your quality of life even worse if you survive.

Burn tissue is incredibly hard to live with. It's tough, has reduced flexibility which will in turn affect your mobility, and there's no hair follicles so you can't sweat which can be extremely dangerous. You'll be in a constant state of discomfort.

Not to mention the social stigma which can result in you feeling more alienated and isolated.

I know how you feel. You just want someone to care for once but as desolatexdevon said you'll just mentally scar the people who witness the event and your ordeal will end up being a sensationalised news story that goes out of circulation in a month or two.

This is just an extreme thing to do on every level and because you're planning on doing it in a very public place the chances of you being stopped is very likely.

I'd advise you to talk to a health practitioner and let them know how you're feeling.

This seems like a severe case of mania/psychosis.

My fear would be being put out before suffocating. Once you're burned to a certain extent I've heard pain becomes minimal, if any at all. But ultimately death comes from suffocation, smoke, fumes, etc. Being put out before that would suck. Being put out soon after but being resuscitated would be an absolute nightmare. Now it's a future of psych wards, skin grafts, surgeries, pain and suffering. Please consider not doing this. We're all here for the same reason; we want to end our suffering. There's a possibility you may add to yours, for a loooong time, if this fails.

I know this is cliche but please think this through. I would hate for you to be saved mid-way before dying. Knowing them, they would rather put you in a hospital and on a ventilator and make you endure the pain until you're forced to be put into a coma from unbearable pain rather than finishing you off right then and there. Self-immolation is not peaceful at all. The most pain is felt at the beginning before your nerves have been damaged/burned enough that pain can't be felt anymore. Surviving is the most excruciating thing burn victims have to go through so you'd need to ensure you aren't saved (which can't be done if you do it publicly)

I agree. I think it'd leave more of an impact than forcing people to be traumatized by a corpse burning in public

Please don't do that. There are better ways. One of my friends Husband did this right in front of her and the kids. It was a terrible way to die.

Reading this all I can say is I wouldn't want to risk surviving with severe burns etc. and I would probably fail anyway.

Regarding your specific question about whether a taser can ignite petrol, it can and it has happened before:

The fact that you want to go through something that horrific to find peace breaks my heart life hasn't gave you peace your last moments should, I also can't help but think how awful that would be for people witnessing and trying to help you. This method makes me feel you are angry at the world and that is completely valid but I hope you consider another option or try giving your medication another go
