Why is the death penatly seen as such a bad thing? The lethal injection is the greatest gift. A painless and fast way to die (not if you're obese). Technically, the lethal injection makes sense, you are removing the individual from the gene pool. However, from a justice point of view it is ridiculous. Inmates try to kill themselves all the time. Why? Because anyone of sane mind knows how bad of a torture boredom is. Heck us "free" people want to kill our selves too. You see the richest and most famous people trying to commit suicide. From societies point of view though, the death penatly still remains a good thing. No chance of repeat offence. However, in this sick twisted universe, where time only progresses forwards, actions cannot be undone. So no matter what you do the criminal always wins. He caused the damage and you can never undo what they did. The universe is a shit place and we should all go extict to end suffering. Oh and by the way, if you have kids or are planning to, you are the cause of this mess, so fuck you.

I'm against the death penalty. And pro-choice.

Our justice system is imperfect, and wrong convictions happen all the time. You can pay damages to a wrongly incarcerated person, but you can't bring a dead man back to life (even Gandalf agrees with me here :D )

But I'd be totally in favor of giving the convicted felon the right to choose death instead (but this is no surprise: I'd like for everyone to have this choice, regardless of personal circumstances).

The death penalty is too expensive. We should abolish it. My belief in the universal right to die should cover prisoners. I am also going to discuss that in my manifesto.

Finally someone made this thread since I have been thinking about how illogical most people in society are when it comes to death. From a logical standpoint, it seems almost ironic and paradoxical that pro-life people are ok with the death penalty because it is the state carrying out the punishment and they ignore the fact that the person would be dying but just in a different manner from suicide.

Here is an hypothetical scenario that I see, if the world was suicide-proofed (in other words any reasonable and reliable way of suicide is made ineffective, people don't have the means to do so effectively, and are monitored constantly as well as imprisoned for even thinking about ending it) such that it becomes nearly impossible to suicide (let alone effectively), then people would probably try to commit a serious enough crime (mass murder, treason resulting in death(s) of others, etc.) that would carry the death penalty to be put to death, or maybe even put themselves in a situation where it would involve others to do the deed (jumping in front of a train, forcing an armed citizen/police officer to shoot, other dangerous scenarios, etc.).

Note: I'm not condoning violence, hurting others, nor encouraging criminal actions, just pointing out a hypothetical scenario and food for thought.

I would think basically living like 80+ years in prison being locked up in a small gray square room all the time while forced to basically live with what you've done to people until you finally get shanked to death is a way worse punishment, but that's my two cents.

I completely agree with you and I love you mention the kids thing, having kids is selfish no one is having kids because this world is just such a wonderful place to be NO! People are having kids for THEIR own selfish desires because it´s THEIR next step in life that they want the experience of having children. I really hate how pro-lifers talk against abortion because "people should give the baby a chance of life" why? Life is hard work all the way through even if you´re rich and healthy it isn´t a guaranteed roller coaster ride but it sure as hell give a great advantage in life. I really can´t grasp how people justify having kids if anyone thinks the opposite please change my mind because I don´t get how having kids is anything but selfish, you force a person to work hard for a whole human lifetime JUST so you can experience what it is to be a parent SELFISH SELFISH SELFISH!

They make them wait 20 years before they kill them. Big waste of time. Hurry up and get it done.

I think that if you really want to punish someone, Do Not give them a death penalty. Because all the execution methods these days in almost all the countries are quick and painless. Killing a person will put him out of existence. He will be blessed by eternal oblivion. How is that a punishment? To really punish the criminals they must be solitary confined for the rest of their lives with a television in their cells. So each and every day they see the outside world, crave for it, and yet be denied it. Thats punishment. Killing a criminal painlessly and quickly is the softest and the happiest "punishment" of all. Even a toothache is worse than a painless death for an individual !

A lot of pro lifers think that death is the worst thing that could happen to someone. But it's not. As other users have mentioned, putting them in solitary confinement would be the best punishment.

The problem with the death penalty is that it takes ten years of appeals, at least in the US, before the execution is carried out.

Yeah, most pro-lifers are quite naive and they have the absolutist stance on death, like death = worst thing ever, life = best thing ever. So naive and just ignorant the lot they are.
