So one day I was in a sauna and I was getting a bit tired. I then thought to myself that I should leave since you can die if you fall asleep in a sauna. Then I realized that I can die if I fall asleep. I can't tell if i'm a genius or an idiot for coming up with this method. I could easily sleep there for hours without others noticing and there is one in my house.

The problem is that I don't know how good of a method this is. I tried it once and at first I couldn't get any sleep and later when I could, I just went to sleep in my own bed.

Is there a change I will suffer permanent damage? How likely is it that I will die? How should I prepare? How hot should it be? Should I wear clothes? Should I throw water in the heater? I kind of like committing suicide with my own unique method, but if it's unreliable, painful and leaves permanent damage, then I would rather use a better method.

A family friend died in a sauna when I was younger. Apparently it happened all the time. This was in the days before they put timers and auto shutoffs on them.

How exactly does one die from this? Dehydration? Suffocation?

Both... But it's so complicated. Nobody would recommend that. Jesus, if it were that simple... Accidentally, yes, it happens though

If I get back on my feet financially, I'm gonna start using the sauna on a regular basis. Any situation that can cause me an accidental painless death is good.
I wonder if they just die ... or if they are conscious and suffering while dying, like feeling faint and thirst and loss of movement. I hope it's a painless way to go while just sleeping.

We don't know anything about this. The chances of you failing are quite high, as I imagine things could get quite painful the closer you get to the sweet release of death. In my opinion, you shouldn't take the risk and you should instead choose a method that we know of works. Check the resources megathread: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/list-of-resources.3/

I have a sauna In my house. You don't need coals, just water to pour on the heater. It's not going to work for you. I can promise you that.

Thanks for all the replies. If I get back into trying to commit suicide, I probably will try a more common method, but i'm still gonna remember this one, just incase.
