Summary: Using a "Neti Pot" filled with tap water to flush your sinuses can introduce brain-eating amoebas into your nasal passage which travel to your brain. Also, the brain-eating amoebas can be had by swimming in warm lakes and rivers. Death occurs in 99% of cases. And takes usually 5 days. But contracting is very rare. Only 123 reported cases between 1962-2011. All reported cases, except 1, led to death. So, maybe flushing my nose with a Neti Pot EVERYDAY with tap water, toilet water, standing puddles outside, water from a dogs bowl! if CO in my car or tent doesn't work...

I read that, what an awful way to go though! You'd be better letting somebody shoot you with a nailgun in your extremities for a few weeks until you died.

I saw that news story earlier and thought that exact same thing. I wonder how painful it is? You'd probably get some good drugs for it in the hospital.

Based on what I've heard and given the information, it doesn't seem like a good way to go. Plus, it's not reliable and takes too long (that's even assuming that you did get the infection).

You may be better served beating yourself to death with a neti pot. I admire your out of the box thinking though ;)

Flushing your nose with toilet water and dogs bowl yukk!! And it is the most unrealable method as there are very few cases! I once read drinking 6 liters of water in 3hrs could kill you! I drank 6 litres in 2hrs twice but did not die!! Dont rely on least successful methods
