• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

sometimes when people leave and catch their bus, they leave us a song. I wanted to start a thread where we could post our song(s) (and what it means to you, if you want! no rules except kindness!) Any genre, any language. Music is a massive connective force and I think it would allow us to learn about each other through another lens. i'm choosing youtube since everyone can access it.

here's mine:

this is one I listen to on repeat when i'm in a dark place. it's a pretty perfect song, to me.

edited to add:

this song and all its versions mean a lot to me.

this next one, goes back to last year, with the homies. one of them found it and showed it to me. if your method is sn, this one is a hitter. though Ed isn't my fave. but I give exception for this song

what's yours? 🫶🫶🫶 it can be the one you'll go out to, or anything in relation.

I am choosing this collection of music from Rain World which happen in the final area of the game where (Game Spoilers) you escape the cycle you are suffering in and achieve final death which is what I want to achieve for myself too. I feel like my views of life, death and suicide are seen by it.

i probably won't ever leave to this track but i want to share it anyway. it's allegedly about a friend that the singer knew as a kid who died young. i dont fully understand all of the lyrics but it is beautiful enough to stick in my head on and off for the past few months.

Code:

not exactly a - ctb song - but a soundtrack from a game (cry of fear) that talks about depression and suicide.
this soundtrack was playing when the main character (simon) was confessing to his crush from school (sophie) on a building's roof
spoiler for the game:
after he finished confessing, she jumped off the roof
I usually listen to it a lot when I'm feeling upset and other soundtracks for this game as well

A couple years ago I went to see the Brokeback Mountain musical on the West End. The show was awful (the stage malfunctioned, causing a 1 hour interruption for which we weren't compensated but whatever), but some of the songs were great. This one in particular. Just gorgeous. I'm considering making a note for it to be used at my funeral.

I have a whole playlist, won't post it because it's public and has my name on it but it's a lot of Foo Fighters, italian punk rock and Alice in Chains.

Bringing out the Dead and Searching for the Living

1. All The World is Green - Tom Waits
At least for me, it's about looking back on times you've let other people down. Being reminded of how happy or special some moments were, and missing them. Wanting to let go and not hurt anymore - maybe by dying.
Pretend that you owe me nothing
and all the world is green.
Can we bring back the old days again?
When all the world is green.
The moon is yellow silver,
oh the things that summer brings.
It's a love you'd kill for,
and all the world is green.
He's balancing a diamond on a blade of grass
The dew will settle on our graves
when all the world is green

2. La Mer - Nine Inch Nails
A song about jumping into the ocean and dying, at least in my interpretation. To my knowledge the singer wrote it when he was planning to kill himself.

3. Hurt - Nine Inch Nails/Johnny Cash
Similar to All The World Is Green, it's about reflecting on letting people down and letting go of yourself.

4. Unchained - Johnny Cash
Having a weight taken off of you by dying.

5. Sanctity - Dystopia
Listen or read the lyrics and it's pretty self explanatory :P

Not suicidal at the moment but if it ever got to that point, this is the song I'd use.

Beginning lyrics: feet don't fail me now, take me to the finish line

Seem to be quite apt.

1. Anna Blue- Wie wird es weitergehen?
This song was always on repeat for me in high school, and I find the lyrics still relevant to me at 21 as I did at 15.

2. The Road Goes Ever On... , Pt. 2 / "In Dreams" (feat. Edward Ross)
Lotr was my escapism franchise, and I want my final moments of escapism to be with it one last time

I wanted to add this one. @billie left us it on their farewell thread and I have a personal love for the song too.
